moving the shed?

is this something that i need to hire a professional for?

i have a very tiny back yard, but i have a lot of space to the sides of my house. our shed is right under the window in the family room (in the back). i'm thinking of moving it towards the side yard.

i do know that a cement slab would have to be put down wherever i move it to.

is this something a novice can do or should i pay someone to do it?

Re: moving the shed?

I would have to see the shed to answer this question.

Re: moving the shed?

I want to do this too. We put the shed in before we made some other huge changes to the yard including a variance to move our fence. I'd much prefer it on the other side of the yard but I think it would need to be forklifted or something. It's a 10x10 shed but my DH put in the base pretty well - I remember him digging and digging and leveling over and over. I can't imagine it being moved without a machine, KWIM?

Re: moving the shed?

We had to have our shed moved to get a permit and we had to hire someone. It's very heavy and about 10 x 12.

If your shed is small, no need to hire someone. Your DH can do with with a couple of friends. Of course, it depends how far you need to move it. A friend of mine moved his shed by getting a bunch of pipes and rolling the shed on top (moving the one from the back to the front when it was no longer under the shed). He said it was a lot of work but very easy.

we moved ours about 35 feet & turned it. we jacked it up, then used 4" PVC pipe to roll it. It was pretty easy. Our shed is about 10 X 8

I have pics somewhere, if it would help I'll find them.
