Moving from Queens to Nassau

If all goes through we should be moving to Nassau soon Chat Icon but I have some bill Questions:

What are you currently paying for:

LIPA
Cablevision / Fios
Oil
Water

Am I missing any other bill?

I know it all depends on Sq footage but just wondering.

Re: Moving from Queens to Nassau

Congrats!! We moved from Queens to Nassau a few months ago. I miss Queens but its sooo nice having a yard!

Anyway- we have a 3 bedroom 1 bath 2 floor home..We have gas heat (no oil) so we pay on average

LIPA-electric 100ish- sometimes 70, sometimes 125
Gas 125-250 (in the winter)
Water $18 every 2 months
Verizon Fios $136 a month

Thats it for house bills. Homeowners ins. is in the mortgage and then car ins.

Good luck! Where are you moving to?

Re: Moving from Queens to Nassau

Keep in mind I live in a two-family with my mom and her BF. It's 6 bedrooms, 2 and 2 half baths. So the four of us split the bills:

LIPA - usually around $130 during the colder months, up to $500 during the summer

Cablevision - $200/month (two telephone lines, one router, 3 boxes, and 1 DVR box)

We don't have oil, we have gas. Again, cheaper during the summer but high during the winter

Water - Around $15/month - we are in the Farmingdale water district which uses their own water company

I am in Queens & I am soooo jealous of these figures.
Con Ed: $1000 summer & winter months
Water: $180 - $200 every 3 months

& please don't say I pay less in taxes, its over 10 grand & I can reach over through a window & borrow the "grey pupon" from a neighbor!
I need to move.

Re: Moving from Queens to Nassau

4 bedroom/2 bath. Lipa $115, gas $130, this is what I pay for both per month year round. I also have a pool with heater and run central air which makes thesecosts higher. Fios $185 which include home phone, internet, internet security, 2 dvr boxes, hd, and all movie channels. Optional bills are landscaper (200 a month) and home alarm. Good luck!

Re: Moving from Queens to Nassau

It's hard to estimate on energy cost. I have a house with the original aluminum slider windows. We paid $120 per month this Winter for gas. But we also don't live upstairs and keep it really low. I used to pay at least double when we had oil. But we also had an old system.

Also, consider that it may cost more to commute depending on where you work.

But car insurance is generally lower here so it might even out or even work out in your favor.

Re: Moving from Queens to Nassau

We are in a 2800 sq foot splanch--for guesstimation purposes.

LIPA-$247
AQUA (private waterChat Icon )-$35.91
Fios-$196--we have 4 tvs, 2 DVRs, and every channel known to man. The internet + home phone.
Petro (Oil)-$400 a pop. Usually every 6 weeks.

We don't have a landscaper (DH), we only have a front lawn and its small, takes like 20 mins to cut.

We do have an alarm which is $30 a month.
