More thoughts on a couple of food items for DD's party

If eating a pasta salad dresed with fresh mozz., tomato, red onion, basil and EVOO would you prefer bowties or ravioli (I really wanted to do mini cheese ravioli, but wondering if the masses would prefer just plain pasta without a filling. Bowties kind of look like fairy wings and would be cute for the Abby Cadabby theme, but I am not incorporating the theme into the food so it wouldn't really matter.)

ALSO, the favor/centerpiece is going to be rice krispie treat wands. I am trying to go with the easiest and most sensible, least wasteful means of doing this. Should I make the rice krispie treat at the top of the stick a star or a ball? I will be coloring them with food coloring and covering them with cello bags and tying ribbon streamers to them.

My mom made something really nasty when I was a kid w/bowties - I still don't eat that shape - I know its the same flour/water in another other shape but... so, I'd go with ravioli

As for the RC treats - why don't you make a big tray and get a star shaped cookie cutter.

Since you are adding cheese to the salad I would go with the bowties instead of the ravioli.

I think a star shaped rice crispie treat would be more fun & decorative. I never made them before so I am not sure how wasteful they would be. Can you cut the shape before they harden so you can combine the extra bits to cut again?

That was the plan- trays and a star cookie cutter. Just thought so much would just go in the garbage (from the extra scraps left.) I planned on the cookie cutter stars and then the idea was planted in my head that i would be wasting so much by doing it this way and suggested I do balls instead . . .Chat Icon

I am sure I will do a great job all on my own, but I am willing to share!

I wasn't sure if they would still be as good if I re-heated them again, I could try though.

I think bowties would be great - as PP said because you already have cheese in there. You could even make it an orzo salad if you want Chat Icon

I think you can try to reuse the scraps of the rice krispies too....
