Monitor- Video or just Audio?

I can't decide. At first I was def. gonna do only audio b/c I think I'll make myself crazy with video. Then, b/c we have an upstairs, I was thinking video is good to have. At the same time, I think regardless I'll be going in to check on baby.

I wish I knew, I can't decide either. Add the Angel Care Movement one and I'm even more confused!

Re: Monitor- Video or just Audio?

We have both. We have a video one set up over the crib. And we bought a cheap audio one to use downstairs to use when we walk around the house if he is sleeping in his pack-and-play.

Re: Monitor- Video or just Audio?

I am registering for the video for home, and a travel audio that someone mentioned on here. That way when we visit our parents we still have something for when the baby is sleeping. I figure I can use it at home too.

same here! DD is a light sleeper, so if I was to actually go in and check on her she would wake up.

As a BTDT mommy (I have a 2 year old) my video monitor is the one thing I could NOT have lived without.

I am in the minority-we are doing the audio only and because my DH is in technology, he is going to set up webcams in Miss Bean's room.

Re: Monitor- Video or just Audio?

video-we are buying a second one for DS because we still use DD's (she just moved into a big girl bed and we want to be able to see what she is up to).

We only used the audio with both DC, and I love gadgets, but just didn't see the need for the video...

ITA. I love being able to check on DS, whether he's sleeping or awake, without having to go in. Sometimes, he'll put himself back to sleep, but if I went in, he'd never do that.

Just audio-video sounds like alot of fun but it totally creeped us out that people could tune in and "see" our little one.

I know they can hear her if they get the right frequency, but most of the time when we have it on, there is nothing to hear.

Re: Monitor- Video or just Audio?

I have both.

We have a Summer Infant video monitor (not the handheld, just the little TV looking one) and a regular audio monitor. When we go to bed, we have the video on mute but you can pop on the screen to look. And we leave the audio monitor on. The sound on the video one is so loud. Then we keep the 2nd audio monitor handset downstairs for when we need it, after he goes to bed, etc. I definitely recommend getting the video monitor, there are times when my DS wakes up, but isn't fully "up" - I don't necessarily need to go in and get him but at least I can see he is ok. And then of course I wake up during the night and just want to peek at him but don't want to go in the room and disturb him.

Video...mainly for when they're toddlers and trying to climb out of the crib. Chat Icon

I had both, audio with #1 and video with #2. The video was definitely more reassuring. With the audio, I found myself freaking out over noises and not knowing if she was ok, but I didn't want to risk going in her room and possibly waking/disturbing her. The video usually answered those questions for me.
