Re: Moms who had Second baby-A Question

Felt the same for me although it seemed a lot more bearable. I think I just have a really high pain tolerance. Also, I pushed twice and had no issues with tearing or anything.

Re: Moms who had Second baby-A Question

Very different.

My water didn't break with the 2nd, so there was no warning.

I was carrying a lot higher, so I wasn't expecting to go yet. I read later that often 2nd babies don't drop until the end.

I had a lot of Braxton Hicks during the last month. Looking back it was probably pre-labor. It took a good 30-45 minutes to confirm that it ws real labor vs. BH.

I think the BHs/pre-labor resulted in a much quicker labor (it was over in 1.5 hours with literally a half-push because I was trying to hold it).

With my first, my water broke and he was born 3 hours later via c/s (he was breech).

With my second, I had period cramps for a few days. When I had my first real contraction, there was no mistaking it. She came 6 hours later by VBAC.

Re: Moms who had Second baby-A Question

Very different with mine.

With DD I was having light cramping and a bloody show all morning. I went to the drs at noon and I was 3 cm. I went to the hospital and was put on pitocin. At 7pm she was born they had to break my water.

With DS my water broke first then had very very intense cramping and bloody show right away.

Re: Moms who had Second baby-A Question

With #1 I was induced, and the contractions were right on top of each other and they were horrible.

With #2, I started feeling them at 5:30 am, but they weren't terrible and they stayed about 4 minutes apart, and never got any closer together than that. The only time I was in pain was right after they broke my water, but I had him within 10 minutes of my water being broken.

Re: Moms who had Second baby-A Question

Contractions started the same. Once my contractions start I have them every 2 minutes. Since my first labor was 12 hours long with contractions every 2 minutes I thought that would be how my labor was with my second. Luckly my DH made me go to the hospital after only 1 hour of contractions because my second labor was only 3 hours long.

Re: Moms who had Second baby-A Question

Very different, much better experience.

With Nate, I was in labor for 21 hours (8 of them at home, rest at hospital). His heartrate fluctuated, so they had to put an internal monitor on his head. I pushed for at least 2 hours. The nurse had to get on the bed and push my belly to help get him out. I had an episiotomy.

With Jayden, I was induced 3 days after my due date. I had a great experience. I was in labor a total of 6 hours from the time I got the pitocin. I had an epi and was able to feel the pressure when I need to push. I pushed 3 times and he was out.
