Ok this is what is bothering me.

For those of us with children 1 or under...the kids got sooooo many vaccines this year.

So even if I want to get the flu shot, swine flu shot, I just can't see them getting 4 more shots, plus the one year vaccinations etc.

Is anyone else disturbed by this? Is this going to stop you or not stop you, will you still get the swine and reg flu shots for your DC and how old are they?

I'm talking to my ped in actually an hour or so about the flu shots, both of them..to be honest with you, I'm leaning toward vaccinating her for definitely the flu and undecided about the swine flu,but considerng we're flying in December and I am a believer that vaccines aren't directly linked to autism (MY OPINION) I'd rather her be protected from the flu and other illnesses than not...

My son will be 6 months next week.

He is not in daycare. He will not be getting the flu shot or swine flu shot. If he were in daycare, I would probably get him the flu shot, but I'm not sure.

My DD is not in daycare, nor do I have any school age kids. DD is 10 mths.

Do you plan to go to any play groups or large places with your DS? I am so freaking torn it's keeping me awake at night. See, even though she isn't in daycare, I would like to go a playgroup or party without worrying about the swine flu. But if she's not vaccinated, I will be very worried, it's probaby going to spread fast and odds are greater she would get this than the regular flu. So I would have to avoid these places and events, which leads to much boredom and isolation.

But yet, I hestitate to get these vaccines. I do think they can damage one's immune system (links to MS, etc). Who really knows?

It's so upsetting, just not knowing what to do, worrying either way.

I don't have a problem with it.
I've been doing a lot of research on vaccines lately.
The positives outweigh the negatives a million fold IMO.
By giving my kids these vaccines, I am protecting them from potentially getting very sick and DYING. It is a proven FACT that people DIE from these illnesses.
There are no proven facts anywhere that show vaccines cause any kind of diseases, disorders, damage to the immune system, what have you.

I even did research on the # of vaccines given - that here are so many more now when we were kids. What I found is that when we were kids, there may have been fewer shots, but those vaccines were full of crap. Today, they are so much more refined. So although the # may be higher ,there is less "crap" in them.

So long story short, yes, my kids will be getting all recommended vaccines.

DS is going to be in music together and the woman assured me that it isn't like gymboree where they are all over everything. If it turns out otherwise, then I will pull him out. I just don't trust the swine flu vaccine as it is new.

It is more isolating but it's what I am comfortable with doing with my son.

I understand though, I worry either way as well. Chat Icon

It's tooooo much!!!! i just posted a thread saying that DS won't be getting any of the shots he is scheduled for at his one year. I don't want to give him the flu shot bc the one time I got it, I got sick.

my dS is not in daycare, but he is in Mygym in freshmeadows, the heart of the swine flu problem Chat Icon it's so scary but the swine vaccine is much scarier to me!

My DS is 8 weeks so he oviously cannot get it. However, my DD, who is almost 3, will be getting it because she goes to pre-school and brings everything home with her. We need to protect DS from getting something that could very well kill him because he is so young.

I have done a ridiculous amount of research on this and feel that the risks of getting the swine flu in a young child is greater than any possible risks of the vaccine.

If your DS was over 6 mths, would you get it for him?

I also wanted to add, my DC don't go to day care.
But we do go out in public.
DH works in the city, is on the train, etc.
It is impossible to keep them isolated from the flu/swine flu.

Given my situation with an older DD - yes. Because my risk is to great. If he was my only, then I would make sure DH and I got it and just not take him to any classes etc.
