Mommies to be- here is some advice after baby shower...

Open up everything you plan on keeping and check it!! even if you dont need until baby is 6m +..

My baby shower was in July and my dd was born in Sept. I just opened my high chair and jumparoo, the boxes looked well sealed and didnt think much about it, but when i looked at the product both had been USED!!!.. I just went to BRU and they fought with me.. b/c no receipt. I was able to do an even exchange with the high chair, but the jumparoo they wanted me to pay an extra $16. b/c the item was purchased at @ $60 something and now is $79.99 and they want me to pay the difference.. H E L L NO!!!.. im sooo pizzed..

I asked the lady why would I open this right after the shower if my dd wouldnt need until 6m old, (she is now 3m, only reason i opened was b/c of the high chair, and didnt want to have to deal with having to go back if it was dirty too)

So now im warning those furture mommies to check your stuff, so you dont have to deal with this too.

Oh wow. Thanks for the heads up! I didn't plan on opening the stuff until it was time to use them when the baby got older! I am so sorry you had a hard time with BRU.

ITA. I had similar issues with BRU. Luckily I have a Peg Perego high-chair & they replaced it for free, but BRU was OBNOXIOUS about the whole thing!Chat Icon

BRU is the worst. Check everything from there. We bought a gate from there once that needed to attach to the wall and it had been used. The pieces were bent and you can tell that they had been attached to someone elses wall. When I went back to the store with it. The manager went and got another box and started taking pieces from that and was going to put it back on the floor. I said no way I do not want a used gate, but he was going to keep the cycle going. They are just awful with a crappy attitude too.

excellent advice!!! the same thing happened to me with my high chair from bru...they gave me SUCH AN ORDEAL. i tried to explain the same thing to them about not needing the high chair until my son was older, so why would i have opened it before he was even here. they were obnoxious, and finally after a while let me exchange it for the same one.

Thanks for the advice - I wouldn't have thought to open stuff that I was going to use right away!

I'm sorry this happened to you.

This is very good advice. I had gotten our toddler carseat and stroller as part of my shower. I opened the package to check the items and also sent in the product registration cards so that if there is a recall, I hope to be notified.
