Missing my dad like crazy

Maybe its because my mom is going to Florida in a few weeks, but I miss my dad SO much. I know my life would be so different if he were here. Mom and dad always told me when they had grandkids they wanted them to come over every weekend, like we did with our grandparents. My moms boyfriend, who is very nice and one of my dad's oldest friends, is just not interested in our kids. If he is going to spend time with grandkids, he wants it to be his own. Which I get, kinda.

But the thread on gay marriage really got me missing him. My dad passed away in 1996. That was when people were just starting to talk about gay rights. I remember debating with him- (I know its a shock, me? a debate? ) about gay marriage. It was such a foreign concept then.

And I argued the right to marry, the inheritence right, the hospital rights, etc... And just ended. I went to my room. A few minutes later he came to me and said, you know, you're right. Its not fair.

I just miss him so much.

I have no words, other than I hope you take some comfort in knowing that he would be so incredibly proud of the woman, wife and mother that you have become
