Menopur vs. Repronex vs. Follitism vs. Gonal-f

Does anyone really understand the differences between these medications? I know that Menopur and Repronex have both FSH and LH, as opposed to just FSH like Gonal... But other than that, is it just different brands of the same product? I see so many girls on here using Menopur instead of Repronex and I was just wondering if there was a reason. Same thing with follitism and gonal-f.

I am going to be taking 225iu of Gonal and 150iu of repronex daily. If my Repronex is 50/50 FSH and LH, is that the equivalent to taking 300iu of follitism or 375iu?

I am just curious. It would make googling much easier if I was comparing apples to apples lolChat Icon

I was trying to figure out the difference between Follistim and Gonal f too. I was trying to find the best pharmacy to get my meds at (Ins won't cover any of them) and Freedom Fertility told me Gonal f and Follistim are the same thing and Gonal f is much cheaper. I called my RE and he told me in his opinion he thinks Follistim is better for IVF and he's had better success. He also said that Freedom has an agreement with Gonal f and gets some kick backs for prescribing it so they always push it regardless of situation. That being said, I'm taking Follistim. My cousin is pregnant and used Gonal f with IUI with her second child. First child was Gonal f and IUI as well.

I think gonal and follistim are the same thing.... just a matter of which one your insurance will cover Chat Icon That's always been my understanding anyway....

For my first IVF cycle, I used A LOT of gonal and some Luveris. This cycle, instead of using Luveris, I used less Gonal and 2 vials of Menopur most nights. I had a MUCH better response. I also triggered with more lupron which could have contributed to my better response.

ETA: Everyone will respond different to different protocols.

Also... I just realized I really didn't answer your question Chat Icon
