Men and Kids

Do you think that the level of involvement by a DH is influenced by the sex of the child?

ANd i mean in all aspects not just extracurricular activities

you don't think you are less inclined to change a diaper if it you had a daughter as opposed to a son?

Re: Men and Kids

IMO...no - son or daughter it is their child...why should the baby's sex change the level of involvment he has in the childs life?

I have male friends and family members who have daughters and all of them are so in love with their little girls...even the ones who wanted a boy for their first child...

I don't think its the amount of involvement as much as the stuff they're involved IN. Like girl scouts vs. boy scouts.

That's what I've seen in Fh's family, anyway. Mine is a totally different story.

It makes no difference to me. I use to change my son's diaper all the time, and my nieces too.

Re: Men and Kids

In some of my experience watching some men (not all mind you) is that some relate better to toddlers, not babies. I haven't seen any issues of boy vs. girl. I just happen to know of a few men who have had trouble relating to babies but become very actively involved once they are toddlers

i agree... DH seems sooooooo frightened when he's holding a baby (like he's going to break it or something)... but he's equal with all the neices and nephews (although, i know he has an extra soft spot for one of his neices).. but it doesnt affect his level of interaction Chat Icon
