Maybe its just me...but do you think its weird that Obama never mentions his wife or daughters in these speeches?
Maybe he has, but the last 3 I saw this weekend had no mention of them. Maybe say "thank you to my wife and daughters?"....or is that not appropriate?

well, usually you thank someone when you complete something... and he's only starting now... so I don't find it odd. I believe he did thank his family at the end of the election.....

I don't.
I'm sure in their personal time he's said what needs to be said and I believe during and after the election he did thank them.
Personally, for me, I don't need to hear it in his speeches going forward.

Well, last time he did, he got stuck getting a dog! 
He has mentioned his daughters in his speeches quite a bit - usually referring to the kind of world he wants them to grow up in and that he wants all children to have the same opportunities as they do.

I don't think it's weird.
the Presidency is a JOB. my husband doesn't thank me when he's speaking to his partners...and although it seems different, it really isn't.
he needs to thank them on a personal, not professional level.

He thanked them during his victory speech, which makes sense to me since it was an accomplishment.
I don't find it strange at all. It also wouldn't have fit in his speech. As he said it's not about thinking individually but more globally.

I don't think it's odd. It's not really an acceptance speech. I wouldn't expect him to mention them.

No I dont think it is weird. I think he is working and i think he has shown gratitude and they have been very visible through out the election and inaugeration.

I actually think it is weirder that his speeches are all "empty"
Even the broadcasters are saying that he had no "catch phrase" too many mentions of storms and struggles but really didnt SAY anything; and such a long awaited speech; highly anticipated actually left people feeling "empty"

Yeah....me too. I had tears in my eyes....
Catch phrases mean nothing in the long run, I'd rather hear a speech with substance than catch phrases anyday.
And as for mentioning his family, I think he does it when appropriate, acceptance speechs, etc.

I agee. I was not an Obama supporter but his speech left me feeling hopeful not empty.
