MacBook battery life

I've had my macbook (regular, not pro) for about a year and a half/two years and the battery doesn't seem to last as long. the battery life % displayed shows that it decreases by 10% about every 20 minutes. i feel like it lasted longer before. has this happened with anyone else's macbook?

Re: MacBook battery life

this happens to every notebook..some quicker then others depending on use..

these batteries slowly die over time and "can" be replaced. I'm not a MAC so i'm not sure the cost and ease of change of battery compared to a PC

Yes, this happened to mine as well. If I didn't have it plugged in, it would turn itself off w/o any warning after like 5 min! Really bad. DH just looked into it the other day and said the battery is totally dead and needs to be changed. He said it's about $100.

Re: MacBook battery life

You are supposed to "reset" the battery every once in a while by letting it completely die (to the point the computer goes off) and then recharge. It's suggested to do this like once every 1-2 months.
If the battery you have is already shot, do this when you get a new one.

Re: MacBook battery life

i am on a macpro (work) and we always have it plugged in (bad) so as stated you need to let it die then charge it completely but after a few years you need to replace the battery mine is about due but we are holding out for new laptops next year since my pro is not going to run the OS and CS5.

Re: MacBook battery life

Yea.. this always happens. The best thing to do is to let it die completely and then let it charge completely every time. Easier said than done. We just replaced our battery. I think weve had the computer 3 years. It was around $100
