Luce has a terrible ring of red rawness in the skin folds of his lil fattie neck

what can I do about it? he is a drool machine....how can I prevent this? it looks painful, but he's fine when I put ointment on it (so far I've been putting rosebud salve and neosporin)

any other suggestions?

DD had that.

Bathe daily

Always wipe dry and use a bib

Put some Aquaphor daily

All of the above always got rid of it for DD.

DS actually had this a few months ago where his skin would get really raw (neck folds) and kept coming back. It was actually a yeast infection. The Dr. prescribed some cream and it went away and has not come back since.

Acuaphor all the way! Jess, any little dot or rash on Mikey's body and Acuaphor gets rid of it!

Jordan has the same thing - I was using Aquafor. At our last ped visit, he said we need to dry it out - not keep moist - he told us to use a powder called Caldesene. They sell it at every drugstore (OTC) and it's in a pink container. We've also been putting it in his legs rolls and diaper area creases when needed - it cleared up the problem almost immediately! Ped said to shake the powder into the palm of my hand, put on my finger, and then spread in the crease.

actually -- I ALWAYS use Johnsons Cornstarch Powder -- its because moisture gets trapped in there


Sophia had the same problem since birth -- some days her neck doesnt see the light of day and milk and drool used to get trapped. Make sure to wipe it clean, let it dry, then sprinkly some cornstarch powder in there 2 times a day


works like a charm

if its the same thing Soph had then Aquaphor is the wrong way to go, you dont want to keep it MOIST, you want to DRY it out

We used powder for DD also. Cleared it up fast.

DS had this for months! We were putting Aquaphor on it 5 times a day and it just wouldn't go away. At our last ped appointment she said to put a 1% cortisone cream on it for 3 days max. It went away on the first day we used it and hasn't come back.

That's a fungus infection-when drool/formula/milk gets in the folds and it stays moist.
You'll need an anti-fungal cream like Nystatin!
Keep it dry with the powder too. My daughter had that the first few months after she was born. It looks scary but it doesn't really hurt them!

DD had that too, she was and still is a chubb...aquafor and clean it well in the bath and dry it well after!

This used to make me crazy!!!! When he starts to thin out in the neck they finally go away..

I actually used Lanilosh since he would lick it and I didn't want him ingesting the other stuff. It worked really well- especially since its so thick. Plus I had tons left over from BF.

Ugh I remember that

I used to wipe her neck often with a wipe and keep it as dry as possible with little burp clothes they make then always be viligant about watching it to stay dry. Using powder to keep it dry too.

Such a pain.. for her and me! Poor baby

When santino was an infant he had this rawness in his groin leg folds. I would let the area air out and apply aquaphor, this kept the moisture out and allowed the raw skin to heal. I personally would never put powder on raw skin unless it was something specifically persribed by my ped.
