Lovenox girls...

Do you find that you miss shots? I am in my 18th week and find that I miss them sometimes especially recently. I have to take them twice a day; I probably end up doing 3 out of every 4. Well, I mentioned it to the tech today and got "yelled" at. The baby is fine but they said that she went from the 74th to the 54th percentile in terms of growth over the last 16 days. They also said that my placental lesions doubled. Obviously, I feel guilty and won't miss them anymore. I didn't realize it was such a problem.

Re: Lovenox girls...

i have not missed a shot yet.. but thats because i take them the same time everyday.. and thats when i first wake up.

maybe you can start taking both at the same time frames everyday?! it might make it easier for you.

Re: Lovenox girls...

I missed one awhile back but I haven't lately. Although, I don't always take them at the same exact time each day. I didn't know missing it could cause that many problems. Thanks for posting this!

Re: Lovenox girls...

i have only been on them for a little over a month and I think I have missed one or two. I take them at night, before bed and I feel asleep once or twice. I dont think its a HUGE deal... Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Lovenox girls...

can I ask you girls another question or two?

Why are you on lovenox and does your OB perform an U/S at every appointment since you are on lovenox?

Chat Icon thanks!

(i am on it due to several genetic clotting disorders/issues to prevent clots in the baby, placenta, umbillical cord etc. I was told that i SHOULD have an U/S at every appointment and have to date) Chat Icon

since the beginning? I am kinda of getting upset with my OB. I was told that I should be seen by both the HR and the regular OB at 7w and now I am almost 15w and they havent scheduled me with the HR since. I was also told I should be monitored closely (since im on the lovenox) with u/s and I only had them at my first appt and ultrascreen. I go back monday at 16w and I am going to demand they check the baby and blood flow via ultrasound Chat Icon god forbid they miss something Chat Icon Chat Icon

I see an OB and a perinatologist.. I get a sono every 2 weeks at the peri that confirms blood flow to the baby and measures rate of blood flow in all different arteries, baby's brain, etc.

I also get a sono w/ my OB when I see him as well.

Regarding the OP- no, I haven't yet missed a shot- you really should try to take them at the same time every day.. I take mine when I wake up as well.

If I needed to take 2, then I would do one right before bed as well- I find if I leave the shots out on my dresser, I don't forget.

Re: Lovenox girls...

Yikes, I got a lot of U/S when I was still being seen by Dr. B but since I switched over to my OB, I've only had two (the nuchal scan and the ultrascreen). Why do you have to have som many when you are on Lovenox?

with clotting disorders, there is a high risk of blood clots which can complicate a pregnancy. the lovenox thins the blood to prevent clots but they want to keep an eye on blood flow to the baby, look for clots in the placenta or cord or baby Chat Icon

Re: Lovenox girls...

i missed a couple when I was preggo, maaayyybe 2-3 a month

i went off of it about 3 days before my c-section (was scheduled) and then my Dr neglected to put me on heparin right afterwards (lovenox is a nono if youre going to BF)

after being back on the heparin for 4 days, and 18 days PP I hemorrhaged and passed a HUGE mother of a clot (in the bathroom at CVS Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon ) it was HORRIBLE. had I not been put back on the blood thinner things could have turned out very badly for me

id say that i learned to try to take it everytime, bc OBVIOUSLY we are on it for a reason!! i know it too well now.

I was just told yesterday that I will have to start Lovenox after the birth b/c of a genetic blood clotting disorder. I will only have to start it before birth if they they find I have a clot forming

Re: Lovenox girls...

I never miss shots...and hope I never do. I"m so afraid of a MC. Be careful...don't miss them anymore! It helps me to take them right before bed at night because it's always the same time. It's like a routine.

Re: Lovenox girls...

I have never missed a shot, I have forgotten and taken it an hour or two later though. I have an alarm set to remind me to take it everyday.

Also, you can breastfeed on lovenox, I did with DS, you can not breastfeed on coumadin though.

Re: Lovenox girls...

have not missed a shot yet, i also take it in the morning, it is always within a one hour time frame, i set the alarm on the weekends and then go right back to sleep, i will admit i think i forgot to take my calcium pills after the shot a couple of times

my ob said nothing about monitoring this since i have stopped seeing my RE which is why i now have an appt with a new ob

Re: Lovenox girls...

I've missed a few shots here or there, but not many as I try to take it at the same time every day (when I get up and when I go to bed).

I'm on it as a precaution because I had Multiple pulmonary embolisms a few years ago and that scares the heck out of my OBs-I do not have any of the clotting disorders.

ETA: I've gotten more sonos during my pregnancy but definitely not at every visit.

Re: Lovenox girls...

i get sonos every week.. between the Peri and the regular OB.. because of twins, and my incompetent cervix.
