I was reading that you have to get sponsored by a licensed real estate broker. You will not be allowed to take the New York real-estate agent test if you are not.
You do not have to work for the broker who sponsors you, even though your license will come in his name. You can go to another broker and the license will be transferred over
.( is this true??)
Also where can I go to take the required agents classes?
if anyone can help please fm me thank you

I know that you need to be sponsored to get yout license not sure if it was needed for test.
They actually offer the courses online now. On the mlsli website click realtors only on the top and then education

You can contact a local real estate office. They are always looking for salespeople. You need to have a sponsor by the time you apply for your license (after you complete the classes and pass the state test)

My advice: take your time and think of it as not only are you interviewing for the position but you should also interview them.
I went to 3 different companies before I decided which one felt right for me.

Good luck!
