List of companies that offer IF benefits from Conceive Magazine

The article gives a disclaimer that they were only able to rate companies who responded to their survey, which does not incled Morgan Stanley, Phizer, Disney and Home Depot. They rated each one on fertility and adoption using "good", "better", and "best". There is a little blurb on each which goes into detail on the amount of paid leave and the maximum benefits. These are, to me, a little scary as one that is rated as best gives a lifetime IF benefit max. of $35K, which is about 3 IVF treatments. I made special notes where there were noteworthy benefits. My company is not on that list and they just started offering IF benefits. I work for Standard & Poor's a division of Mc-Graw Hill and they offer a $20K on IF benefits and I believe up to $10K adoption reimbursement.

Scott and I are featured in the issue since we used his company's adoption benefits for Jason's adoption.

I just wanted to let you know that 35K covers a lot more than three IVF's. Although the total cost for IVF is aout 10K, many of the things billed to the insurance companies aren't under the IVF coverage such as sonos, bloodwork and meds. The only things that are billed under the IVF are things like retrieval, transfer and freezing. So you are more likely to get about 6 - 8 cycles out of a 35K policy.

The woman at my insurance company explained this to me when I called for pre-authorizations.

Gerty is right. Even the RE's office broke down to me what is billed under regular insurance and what is billed under your IF benefits. I think my total cycle came out to around $8K and out of that $8K around $5K was used out of my IF benefits.

I just wanted to let you and others know that you do get more than 3 treatments. I know when I first started this process, I thought the same and only found out later that so much of the IVF and/or IUI process is billed under different things.

I will say my company is on the list and it is accurate. I wish companies did more though still.
