LIJ Children's Emergency Room Question(s)
Last night DS had a fever and the dr told us to go to the ER if it got any higher (thank god it didn't) ..... but I realized I didn't know WHERE the Children's ER was located at LIJ.
Once parked, where do you go? Not the regular entrance right? Somewhere else?
Also, I remember someone saying that you should request someone specific to do an IV if needed so that DS would not get stuck a gazillion times buy nurses that were inexperienced in child IV's. I cannot remember who said that now...
Any other advice from BTDT moms who have to take their DC to the ER?

its actually called schneiders its behind lij. when you pull in follow the signs for schneiders chilodrens...

I am asking b/c a while ago we had to go to take DD to the ER and ped said to take her to LIJ ER when we got there we couldn't figure out which way to go and one of the nurses directed us to Shcneider children's hospital/ER . DD got treated ,but while there we found out from the doc who treated her , that there is a different pediatric ER at LIJ and that we were at the "wrong place".
So now I am confused

I've gone to the reg ER & they have a pediatric section. When getting an iv or giving blood. Make sure the nurse has done it to children. Saves you a lot of heart ache! BELIEVE ME!

ive been to both places... if schneiders is ope that is the only place i will take my kids... schneiders is all kids!! you dont have to worry about whos doing what to your child. just my own expierience. when i wen to the the lij ped part they were awful, left my son sitting in the waiting area at 13 months with a fever of 105.6 for 2 hours before being seen. then wanted to dso an automatic spinal tap! NO WAY IN FREAKIN HELL! finally after much discuccion(arguement) it turned out his high fevefr was from his shots!

is there a separate area to park. Or do you park at that first lot and walk to it? Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I would rather be prepared if I ever have to go.

I had my son there in October.
When you enter the hospital from Lakeville Road, you go to the right (at the circle & main entrance) and there is a parking lot back there. That is where the ER is. It is brand new and beautiful
You have to go to the ER and they lead you to the pediatric area ER.
Schneiders has a emergi-center. It's pretty much a place they send you if your doctors office is closed and they don't think it is an Emergency. It's open to midnight I think. I have never been there though.

You def need to go to the reg LIJ ER to be seen. there is not a Schneiders sep ER to enter.

exactly where to find it. If you do go ask for Nick the nurse.....he is fantasic and will have an IV in one shot!
