Let's talk about 1 year photos...

I took Emily on Saturday for her one year photos and we didn't get one good shot. She was feeling a bit sick that day, my DH wasn't there and he normally makes her smile so big, plus we only went to Target (when he comes home from the hospital we are going to try KK!) but I was just so disappointed that we didn't even get one good shot.

She was so wiggley and just wouldn't stay still long enough to get a photo. Trying to crawl off of the area where we had her --- looking all over but never at the camera ---

I'm afraid that we won't get good shots no matter where we go.

Did you guys have this experience also or did your kdis just miraculously stay somewhat still for pics?

It is SO funny you're posting this now!! I was just going to do the same thing. Joseph just runs all over the place and won't stand still for a second much less smile on demand. I'm trying our 2nd session on Friday. With any luck I'll get a good 1yr pic by the time he's 2!Chat Icon

They litereally only ended up shooting 3 pics -- the only one where she was looking at the camera and smiling was almost identical in pose to one of her shots that we ordered from her 6 month shots.

I am freaking about the girls.. I would like to get one with the both of them.Chat Icon I have a feelign it's going to be a crazy session! They are both so active!!

If they have a favorite toy bring it. Or even bring out a new toy!! That way they will sit & play with it. And give you a smile when you call them.

And to think I get to do this all over in November for their Christmas photos!Chat Icon

I thought I would have a problem because she crawls everywhere and won't sit still but the lady at Sears was ready to take the shot when I sat her down ...My DH was there and was able to make her smile. Then we stood her up holding onto a block and she liked that because she was standing. Eventhough she was cranky (the appointment before us ran late) she was great!

Re: Let's talk about 1 year photos...

I took Jacob a couple of weeks ago for his 1 yr photos and although he was all over the place, we got some great pics. He was wearing a red t-shirt that had a motorcycle on it that said ride free and grey and black camo cargo pants and they had a Harley mtorocycle prop so they came out great!!!

I took them at Hi tech photo in Plainview. They are so worth the extra money..

The reason I like this place is that after you join the club $19.99 sittings cost you nothing and you get a free 8 by 10 with each sitting. So, if you don't like how the proofs come out, you can keep making appointments until you do..

I was expecting the worst but he was very good. Many of the shots he got on the first tryChat Icon . I'm not sure if this is how Target did it but at KK I would sit right nest to him (but out of the shot) and kind of hold onto him until right before he took the shot. My arm even got into one of them (the closeup of him with the black background) and they just cropped it out. I'm not sure which one you go to but if you go to Westbury try to ask for Eddie Terry..he was very good. I didn't care for the other girl at all!

Re: Let's talk about 1 year photos...

Yes every time I take my kids for professional pics I swear that I wont put myself thru that torture ever again....I always leave the place sweating, spending too much $$$ and swearing that this will be the absolute LAST time EVER!!!
In my opinion (and also my husband always says this) that I could have taken better pictures at home myself, where my kids will be comfortable, I can take them over &over (fun) till they come out right, and its Free!!

Then you can just order a border from Costco online & email the pic to them,&for like $15 they will make&send you like 100 prints that will be on your doorstep the next day!!
Thats what I will be doing this holiday!!!!!

Re: Let's talk about 1 year photos...

Awards photo offered me a free sitting and a free 5X7 at my house and they were fast.
The photographer was in and out of the house within 10-15 minutes, set up included. They also brought the proofs to the house a few weeks later so I could choose what I want. Very easy. No obligation if they were not great. Maybe that would work for you. FM me if you want the info.

Re: Let's talk about 1 year photos...

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I am going to take her to KK hopefully in a week or so when DH is home from the hospital and I am really hoping that they come out well!! I do think that at Target the girls just don't have enough experience with babies.

A few people have recommended Eddy at KK and that is the one we'll go to -- in westbury, so I'll ask for him.

I would like more info on that photo place in Plainview since htat is close to me.
