Leslie Carter, sister of Nick & Aaron Carter passed away

Nick Carter and his brother Aaron are mourning the death of their sister Leslie, who died Tuesday at the age of 25.



The pop siblings' sister, who was an aspiring singer, passed away in upstate New York. She leaves behind her husband, Mike Ashton, and their 10-month-old daughter, Alyssa Jane.

A spokesperson for the Carter family confirmed the news to Access Hollywood, saying in a statement, "Our family is grieving right now and it's a private matter. We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter. We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time."

Details of her death have not been released.

Leslie's single "Like Wow!" appeared on the soundtrack to 2001 film Shrek.

I was on The Paramount (in Huntington)website & saw Nick is scheduled to play there next Tuesday, I'm guessing that will be rescheduled...

Nope he is continuing his tour.

I find this weird?? He is not canceling his interviews either. I believe Z100 was going to be interviewing him. If my brother just passed away I don't think I could function for a long time. I guess everyone mourns differently.

OK, I won't deny it. I was a HUUUGE BSB fan back in the day. Still love them. Nick was my fave. Still love him.

Nick is 32 years old and was pretty much forced into the business to be the "cash cow" for the family. He's been with the Backstreet Boys for about 20 years of his life. I don't think he really knows how NOT to go on stage and perform, no matter what he's going through.

I was at his concert last night in the city. He put on a great show, but obviously we were all waiting to see if he would acknowledge it. He did one Backstreet song "Incomplete", which is about losing someone, and I could tell he was starting to get emotional, but he didn't say anything.

The third to last song he did, he came out alone (no band), with just an acoustic guitar. He said "I've never done this before, and I didn't think I'd ever have to, but I want to dedicate this song to my sister." By the end of that as began to sing the song (one off his new cd that is about losing someone) he voice had cracked and you could tell he was upset. He made it through the song, but the very last note his voice cracked really bad and you knew he was crying. He walked off stage for 5 minutes, and we could see him on the side of the stage crying as his manager was hugging him and trying to comfort him. He came back out and went "I just want to celebrate her life".

As such a hardcore fan my whole life, it was SO sad to see him so visibly upset. This was a guy I had dozens of posters of on my walls, and whose music got me through so much for the past 15 years..good and bad and stupid teenage stuff :P But to see someone who has always been this untouchable celebrity crying 5 feet in front of you was very sad.

I saw in Newsday this morning that she passed away from an overdose of prescription painkillers... very sad.
