Kalahari
I just got back on Sunday and wanted to let everyone who is thinking of going what a nice time we had. The rooms are ok...nothing too fancy. The actual water park area is insane. Plenty of slides and activities to keep your kids busy. We ate at this restaurant in the hotel called the Ivory Coast. Food was ok, service seemed a bit slow, but it was decent. There is a more pricey restaurant, but we didnt try it. Overall we had a pleasant time.

We found the same thing with Ivory Coast - it was very slow.
Loved the water park though and had a good time.
My inlaws ate at the fancy place and said it was fantastic.

Re: Kalahari
We just came back from there, I thought it was kind of pricey for the room we got (I guess this also was because its spring break) plus there was construction going on so there was constant jackhammering beginning 7am but my ds enjoyed the water park. I would probably go back if it were for a cheaper price.

Yes, the water park was worth the trip to me. My son and his friend that came along with us had such a good time! Maybe next time I will try the fancy restaurant.

Re: Kalahari
The fancier place I wasn't thrilled with the menu so we skipped it. I spoke to a woman there while on line for something and she said she ate there and wasn't a fan. We went to Barley Creek Brewery - about 10 min away - and it was great.
The rooms- for the money, to me it was a 3 star hotel. I mean it was clean, and new, but something about the decor, was just cheapy to me. And the sink/vanity area in the bedroom. Turn off. I'm a hotel snob though.
And insane crowds - but that was because it was spring break.
But the water park- amazing. SOOO much fun. Can't wait to go back.

I think they don't want you to spend much time in there - since you aren't spending any money hanging out in your room!
We had a suite which was nice - my son really thought the electric fireplace was cool.

We had that too- with the whirlpool bath. It was nice and I get it, you don't spend time in the room- but when I go back to my room, I want luxury. I was pissed there were no bathrobes.

Re: Kalahari
Good to know. Thanks. We are going there for 2 nights in summer. Obviously I will get my kids water shoes, but do adults need them too or will I be ok in flip flops?
Also, one other question? Any one have an issue with finding the place with their gps? Saw some reviews online that ppl said it brought them somewhere else (not far, but not to kalahari)?

No need for water shoes. Even the kids just wore crocs in and then went barefoot. And yes! Google maps on my phone got us totally lost. Like we ended up in a dead end in someone's neighborhood and it said we arrived. The built in gps in our car told us the place didn't even exist. Thank God for DH's iPhone. The map on there was the only one that got us there. It was nuts!

Re: Kalahari
We had a great time there too. We also got so lost about a block or so away. We were at some dead end road. They need much better signs. The water park is great. We ate at the buffet, which was really good. We also ate at the grill downstairs and the Ivory Coast upstairs. Everything food and drink wise was first rate. Loved the adults only swim up bar. No swim shoes, just crocks. I used a groupon so it was really inexpensive and we had 200 in arcade credit which my kids loved. The rooms were smallish. I did not like the sink in the room, but it was ok. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The one thing the need is a night time activity. The walk from our room to the pool was far so no flip flops, wear crocks. Much more comfortable that way.

Re: Kalahari
We went last week too, Thurs-Sat. It was a mob scene Sat morning when we were leaving! We had a nice time. Had a standard room but the tub was awesome, I actually took a bath, it was definitely oversized. Beds were NOT Queens, LOL, doubles which I hate. But we survived. We ate at the Ivory Coast for one dinner and one breakfast. Food was good, dinner service was so so slow but breakfast it was fine. Also had a quick meal at the place by the arcade for lunch. Decent enough. Didn't try the other other sit down place, the menu was sort of blah. Had the buffet for dinner one night and it was surprisingly decent. Overall the food choices and quality much better than Great Wolf. The water park definitely had a few more perks too. Only thing that sucked about the swim up bar was DH and I couldn't go together since no kids were allowed so we skipped it. As for Barley Creek, LOVE that place. We have been going for a few years every time we are in the area. Have never been disappointed with the food or beer.
