just got back from the doctor

My first appointment. I am so mad I myself, I cried all the way home.

I am not even 6 weeks, so I didn't anticipate going in this week, but when I called to make an appt., they said to come in today.

Basically, I took a dollar general test for them, talked about stuff I already knew, and left.

I am dissapointed because I have been living in such fear for the past week and a half, and I thought that I would somehow feel better after seeing the doc. I really wanted her to do a blood test to check my hormone levels, but when I asked her about it, she kind of said she didn't think it was necessary- basically, if I'm going to m/c again she wouldn't be able to do anything about it anyway.....

So I started to cry (cause I am an idiot) and she was so nice and said we can do it if I want....and I said, "no, that's okay....I'll just wait for my first sono..."

I'm so mad that I wasn't a better advocate for myself. If there is a problem, I'd rather know earlier rather than wait weeks to find out. Now I have to wait until October 8th. Ugh.Chat Icon

I'm so sorry. I'd feel exactly the same way.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I'm still angry they didn't take blood at my first appointment...but who knows, maybe they wouldn't have noticed anything then.

Try not to be so hard on yourself - I probably would have let it go too.Chat IconChat IconI don't like that she said that to you though- that was pretty insensitive.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

FM anytime - once I'm in your position, I'm sure I will feel the same! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon FM anytime!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: just got back from the doctor

I'm so sorry.

I can tell you that at my 1st appt for my second pregnancy they didnt want to do a sono. They told me they dont do sonos usually for another 2 weeks. I told them I didnt want to leave without seeing the baby was okay.

Unfortunately, she wasn't ok. There was no heartbeat and was measuring way too small.

But, if I hadn't pushed I would have walked around for another 2 weeks wondering.

I dont know the exact circumstances with your miscarriage, but Can you call the doctor and have them do a sono next week @ 7 weeks?
So you can see if the baby is growing at the correct rate ?
Just an idea.

I'm sure everything is ok, but I know the torture the 1st trimester is after a loss.

Re: just got back from the doctor

Thanks for the support, girls! I am just frustrated with the whole situation...I just want to enjoy this time, but I guess that will come in due time...

My doc did say I could come back in a week, but I couldn't get an appt. at a time that works for me (I teach and it's so hard to adjust my schedule.)

I'm just going to wait it out, I think. I guess when it's all said and done, two weeks is just a drop in the bucket.

On a brighter note- she did mention that the line on my preg. test was nice and dark, and she said that is a great sign that my hormones are strong even if I don't feel any real symptoms.

I felt like a crazy person walking out of her office sniffling- I was more cheerful when I saw her after my m/c!

don't feel crazy! I'm a lot like you and having gone through a m/c I know it has got to be very difficult to not be terribly worried!

The fact is that at 6 weeks.....nobody knows anything.

In this situation....you have no choice but to just have a little bit of FAITH. You're body has obviously done a lot of RIGHT things, and you have to trust that the "right stuff" will continue. You have no other choice but to just have some FAITH.

I'm not a spiritual or religious person....but you must just force yourself to be positive....even though it is so hard. You must!

Re: just got back from the doctor

No you don't. You call that office first thing tomorrow and you tell them that you were upset and that you do want the bloodtest after all. When can you come in? That's it. They should really be more concerned with your mental health. I'm sorry if this comes off a little angry. I'm not at you at all. I'm just a little upset at the Dr. The fact that you had to cry for her to want to put your mind at ease dosen't put my mind at ease. Especially since you m/c before.

If they think it is too early right now then tell them you want to come in next week to get blood taken. Say you go in on Monday to get the hCG done. They get the results the next day and then you have to go in for a second hCG on Wednesday to make sure the levels are rising correctly.

I hope you get the piece of mind you need!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
