is a wall really going to stop this? is spending 5 billion dollars for something that may not be effective really worth spending? cant 5 billion dollars go towards better gear and more border patrol then building a wall that essentially will probably make little impact on stopping illegal immigration and drugs.
that's the issue i see. 5 billion dollars just so he can say he fulfill his promise  also i thought mexico was paying for the wall why is he asking congress for money anyway?!

From statistics, most people just overstay their visa. A wall will not really help. Has any wall ever helped? Think back and critically think about this. Your way of thinking is very simplistic. Try reading some facts.

This is why I am so against the wall. There is no guarantee that it's going to work and it will cost us a fortune. That is omoney should be allocated to something where we can guarantee to fix an issue.

What would a wall actually do?
The majority of people who are in this country illegally don't come through our southern border - they overstay visas, etc.
And the big stink people are making about "caravans" - they are individuals who are coming to seek asylum - which is legal.
Drugs are increasingly coming in smuggled through legal points of entry. So again, won't fix that problem.
More terrorists have been found to come in through our northern border. So again, won't fix that problem.
Not sure what you think a wall will accomplish.

Most Border Security bills before (from both sides of the aisle) have been for more Border Patrol agents, more judges, more technology, improving ports of entry, etc. A wall won't do anything worthwhile. Spending a fraction of the cost of the wall, with the above mentioned tactics will be much more effective. It's border security vs a monument he can point to.
I remember about 5 years ago when everybody was complaining about the number of people Obama was deporting. We're at a fraction of that number now.

That's what our President promised but he lies about everything. So all that tax savings we will be getting from his great Tax reform will be going to pay for the wall.

Meanwhile, by throwing a tantrum over a stupid wall which will do very little to solve the immigration issues the "Toddler in Chief" is costing hundreds of thousands of families their source of income, National Parks have been vandalized, flying is essentially becoming unsafe thanks to TSA agents and Air Controllers going unpaid and calling out sick, children are not getting healthy complete meals in school, the IRS isn't functioning as it should be, the FDA isn't inspecting food as it should be and on and on and on.
PLEASE tell me how a stupid wall (whose main purpose is so the egomaniac has a lasting structure commemorating his sham of a presidency) is more important than the health of the economy, the functioning of essential and critical government agencies and the welfare of hundreds of thousands of workers who can't support their families???
Sorry but this is absolute bull$hit and the ONLY one to blame are Trump (who is literally the absolute worst leader in the history of this country) AND Mitch McConnell who has forgotten that he works for the PEOPLE and NOT Trump. ALL he has to do is send the bill on up to the idiot, let him veto it and then Congress can just override him and reopen the government. That is the RIGHT (and EASY) thing to do but McConnell is a scared, pathetic little man who would rather kiss Trump's a$$ than do his job!
