Job Pet Peeve #159...co-worker's cellphones

OMG if I have to hear the never-ending irritating ringtones of not one but FOUR of my co-workers who constantly walk away while their phones are blaring, I'm going to go psycho and throw them off the roof! How many times can one hear "Single Ladies" from Beyonce?!?

Either take it with you or shut that $hit off!!!

We had this problem at our office. I informed the partners about it (they sit on the other side of this floor) and told them that it is very distracting to everyone else in the office. They can still get their phone calls if it's on vibrate.

So they sent an email asking everyone to respect each other and turn down the ringers.

It worked!!! I would definitely speak to a manager, HR, or a partner. Good luck! It's VERY annoying!

I am alone in my office 80% of the time and my phone is ALWAYS on vibrate

This is one of my pet peeves as well. Someone I work with keeps his phone on as loud as it goes all the time and refuses to put it on vibrate. He will even answer his phone when it rings if he is on a work call without putting the work call on hold. It irritates me to no end.

I don't understand why people don't put their phones on vibrate when they are in the office. I very rarely take my phone off vibrate.

Or the best one is the Nextel beep. At my old job one girl had that and i could not stand it. i had to go to the boss and tell her she needs to do something i can't concentrate. Now when i hear the beep i cringed and I haven't worked there in quite sometime.

I sit in a very open office - we're all at long tables. The area where i am has about 40 people in it, and i'd say at least 5 or 6 of those people don't put their phone on vibrate.

I hear 'Journey', Ave Maria and the old fashioned ring constantly, every day ...

drives me crazy!!

i keep my phone on vibrate b/c I always leave it on in case of emergency with my kids. I sit right next to my boss too, one time he complained. I would never set it to music though!

I work alone, so it's only my cellphone. I don't have to switch to vibrate.

on the flipside, I can't stand all of those juvenille ringtones of different songs . I don't think a generic "ring" is irritating at all.
