It's my First Mother's Day and I'm a little disappointed that...

Noone called me. Before DH and I became parents we always called our family and friends to wish them a Happy Mother's day or Father's day. Now noone calls me for my first. One person did call me. An ex co-worker of mine that I still keep in touch with every now and then by e-mail. So none of my SIL's or friends call me for my 1st Mother's Day but someone who I keep in touch with every now and then by e-mail called me. That says a lot. I will no longer call anyone for Mother's Day or Father's Day except my FIL. My parents live next door so I don't need to call them for Mother's or Father's Day. My MIL would have called but we called her first this morning. Besides we don't mind calling her, she is a Mom and Grandma, we should be calling her.

I know I know don't sweat the small stuff.

eta...Anna did e-mail me from Florida to wish me a Happy 1st Mother's Day. She's on vacation with the family.

I'm sorry! I know what you mean though. You called them when it was their day and now you expect the same in return. Hope it turns aound for you.

DH's sister just called me about 15 minutest ago...

She was out today and just got home. I don't expect DH's SIL's to call but they would be the first to complain if noone does the right thing by them. I'm not saying that I need to be called every year for Mother's Day but this was my 1st.

DH is ****** that noone has called me. He said that things are going to start changing. He's angry beccause he's always done the right thing by his family and now they can't turn around and do the right thing by us.

I don't know. No one called me. I'm not upset. I'm not their mother. My 2 friends did mail me cards which was very thoughtful but not expected at all. I don't call any of my friends or extended family to wish them happy mother's day.
As long as your DH helps your DS acknowledge it for you that's what matters most.

I understand that you feel let sown cause you are always so thoughtful. Some of us are not as thoughtful...in our family we call our mothers and grandmothers. I never would consider calling a sibling for it nor would I call a friend. Don't take it to heart, your friends and family didn't mean harm, many people just don't think to call others for mother's day.

My family doesn't call anyone other than our own moms and grandmothers either.
