Is this rude??

I am planning Patricks b-day party which we are having in our backyard. The next door neighbors have 2 boys. Which Patrick sort of plays with through the fence. The thing is I don't particularly like them. They seem to be very bossy & obnoxious. So, is it possible not to invite them? Unfortunately, it's chain link fence & there is a 10 foot opening where no bushes can hide our backyard.

Although it is up to you & your husband, why don't you ask Patrick what he would like to do.

Re: Is this rude??

I wouldn't say it's rude but I think you're sending a message if you don't invite them. I think given that they do play together occasionally if you don't invite them you're giving the message that the boys are not some of Patricks closest friends.

I wouldn't say it's rude either, but I'd probably invite them.

Re: Is this rude??

Well, if you invite them, are you prepared to have more playdates after the party?
If you invite them I feel you are opening the door to a "friendship", and if you don't really like them now, then what?
I don't think its that rude, the people at your party could be your family, unless of course your inviting other neighbors, in which case, I would say that you should invite them.

Re: Is this rude??

It's mainly family & close friends coming.
The whole thing is that they ONLY play through the fence. I've only seen their mother once & it was Hi, Bye thing. I've never seen their Dad (who does live there as well) Of course, Patrick wants them there but, he sees every kid as a new friend. I've never known him not to like anybody.

Re: Is this rude??

I would not invite them and if it comes up just say it was a party for family ONLY even if there are close friends to me they are family. As far as Patrick seeiing every kid as a new friend. By older son is like that too.
