IS this Laco. intolerant?

1st off-

I just started being like this with the past couple of months???

Is lacto. something you can develop in the middle of you life??

I can not have whole milk or ice cream w/o getting a major upset stomach like 20 min. afterwards...

I have no problem with 1% milk... but whole milk- even in my cereal and Im in pain?

If its not lacto. what could it be??

gall bladder

really??

This only happens with milk though??

I thought when its the gall bladder- its happens with friend- junky foods as well..

While I really try and stay away from that stuff... I do have fried chicken cutlets... @ least one every 2 weeks of soo... and this NEVER happens!

oh and i forgot to add that i DID get the sono and my gall bladder was "sluggy" (is what they said) but i didn't need to have it removed, just had to lay off dairy.

Re: IS this Laco. intolerant?

gallbladder you'll get an attack with ANYTHING high in fat.....the gallbladder regulates the release of bile into your system to break down fat in the stomach.

I had one attack after eating a steak dinner and an oreo ice cream sandwich for dessert.

Then my MAJOR attack was after chinese food and some Ben & Jerry's ice cream one night. My attack happened HOURS later....severe vomitting, sweats, chills, pain radiating to my back.

I lived on salads and Carvel no fat ice cream till my surgery.

It's possible you might be developing an intolerance or your body may be changing. I go through "boughts" of this too....where milk and dairy products will bother me for awhile and then it goes away.

See if you get this pain after eating something high in fat. If no, then it's the dairy. Could be the heat too!

ETA: that it is UNcommon for us younger ladies to get gallstones (that's what I had) but there is a possible correlation to either bad diet (which I did have growing up) or use of BC pill (again, was on it for 11 years)

Re: IS this Laco. intolerant?

I'd have to agree and say have your gallbladder checked. I thought I was lactose intolerent as well because I felt horrible after having dairy, especially ice cream and coolattas from Dunkin Donuts. So I cut those out of my diet, and I still had attacks, mostly at night, the only one that was during the day was the one that landed me in the hospital, that attack lasted close to 24 hours. I had 2 large stones and they removed my gallbladder and I was in the hospital for 4 days.
Again have that checked out because I never would have thought it would be my gallbladder, and fat does trigger the pain, but before I knew what the problem was I still ate food that was high in fat and sometimes I would be fine and other times I would be up all night feeling horrible.
Now, I feel great, I am so glad I figured out what the problem was because it was not such a great couple of months.

I have IBS and lactose intolerance. The lacotse intolerance started suddenly when I was 18, so it is possible to start later in life. But since you said 1% milk is OK, that would not be lactose intolerance... thatb might be something to do with you not tolerating milk fat, which is something you are told to avoid with IBS.
Not sure about gallbladder.
