Is ordering flowers locally better/cheaper than online?

I would like to send flowers to FIL who is coming home today from hospital.

Most bouquets online look nicer online and are a little pricey, and I know in person tend to be smaller.

If I call a local florist, do you think I would get a better deal as well as a nicer bouquet?

TIA!

I personally have always had better luck with local florists. I've never been happy with 800-flowers; once I was actually embarassed when I saw what was delivered. DH just sent MIL flowers using ProFlowers, I think, and she loved them, but he didn't like that she had to assemble the arrangement herself.

Maybe your MIL can recommend a local florist?

I use proflowers.com

They are excellent and the flowers last a really long time

I don't think it is necessarily cheaper, but if you know a florist locally, it might be a nicer arrangement.

If I am sending flowers for a funeral, for example, I usually call the funeral parlor to recommend someone, rather than just use FTD or an online company.

lately DH has been getting flowers locally. the last few times we've used proflowers we were embarrassed by what conditions the flowers showed up in.

i think FTD uses local florists in your area...they get the order and dispatch it to the nearest place of the delivery address..i think...

I like using local florists.

You can say I want to spend X and they will make it work. Also since their name goes in the work they tend to give more attention to detail.

It seems like a lot of local florists will go out of their way to make nicer bouquets jmo

The companies like FTD and teleflora send the job over to the same local florists that you would order from. I still like to call or go to the florist directly and eliminate the middle man.
