Is my vent hood to high HELP before I KILL someone.Update!

OMG everything has to be an arguement with a certain family member of mine. They insist that my hood is way to high, and that when I cook it wont do its job....Chat Icon

What do you think and show me yours please !? !

External Image

Its 29 inches between the bottom of the hood and the stove , so we decided to leave it alone :) Thank you all :)

I think hot air rises... and so does steam. It looks fine to me.

Well, it looks a tad short, but it depends upon how tall you are. Are you hitting your head on it? My parents put one in and I hit my head on it when ever I visit. So I say, better to high than to low!

I'm short 5'2 They can put a 3 or 6 inch spacer above it which my family member is insisting on...

But you have a pot filler there too, right? I am not sure that you need a spacer because it would optically interfere with the pot filler. I say keep it as it is.

To counter the family member I would say if you are paying for it - including labor then you can spring for it. Otherwise, I am happy as is. Plus I think it would interfere with the pot filler. Good luck!

this is what i found

"The hood should be installed 24 to 30 inches above the stovetop, Ms. Cheever said. It should span the width of the stove, and most of the depth, up to at least half of the front burners. "

What are the specifications of your range? Ours specified the bottom of the exhaust fan should be between 30 and 36 inches from the top of the range.
