IS Lamaze 100% necessary?
I was wondering if the DVD would be just as good, I don't want to do an 8 hour day nor a 3 day week of class.

I didn't do it. I personally think the DVD is fine. The nurses tell you what to do anyway....

I took Lamaze and ended up having a c-section! Although I think that if you have a natural birth that it is useful.

I took it. 100% necessary? NO. But I did learn a lot about your choices of pain meds, etc. so I found it slightly helpful.

I took lamaze - I didn't use the breathing much but I found the information on labor and post partum care very helpful - so I would suggest taking it.
