Is it possible for a dream to end in seconds?

While I was driving home in hideous traffic, I was thinking about the business I want to start. I kept thinking about how much I want to do this, how much it has meant to me for so long, etc.....Then I say, Holy Sh*t, I am NEVER going to see my husband, EVER! He owns his own business, which is SO busy right now he has been working 15 hour days. The only day we have together is really Sunday, because he works 6 days. If the business did take off, and work out and be successful, what about my life with DH, my poor doggies being home alone, etc.

So, I have made a decision to put this dream on hold until it feels like the right time. I am not giving it up, but there are too many other important things for me to be involved in right now.

Girl, when the time is right, you will give it 100 %.

The main thing is that you still want it and you will get it eventually.Chat Icon

Kristen, what a tough decision. As much as you want this, you are so smart to consider all the factors. I truly think that you are making the right decision for now. I am sure that the right time for your dream will come before long. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Is it possible for a dream to end in seconds?

I just feel like I am giving up something I really want. The only way to get things done is to motivate yourself, and have the ambition, in which case I have both. But, my husband, the quality of our life together, the time I spend with him, my dogs, my family, is just more important. DH supports me 100%, but I just know it will leave no time for "us". I spend most nights home alone until 8 or 9 pm. We eat together, and before you know it, we are asleep.

I am definitely going to do it. I set a 2 year goal for myself.

Keep reminding yourself that you aren't giving it up, you're just putting it on a time-limited hold.

Family has to come first. Having a successful business is not going to mean nearly as much without the time to share it and enjoy it with your husband and dogs.

You aren't giving up - you're looking at this from all angles and in using this time that you've alloted yourself, it will just ensure that when you are indeed ready to start the business, you will be VERY well prepped.

Re: Is it possible for a dream to end in seconds?

I think you are selling yourself short. There will never be a perfect time. Your DH will have his business and he will be busy and if you are both lucky you will have wildly successful businesses that you will have other people manage for you.

Do you think in 2 years things will be different? This may sound harsh, but some investment in time now may prove to be better in the long run.

I'm sorry if this comes across the wrong way. I think you really want to do this and time management is key.

I'm behind you no matter what you decide. Good luck.Chat Icon

Re: Is it possible for a dream to end in seconds?

I completely understand where your coming from. I just opened my place a few months ago and its hard. My dh owns his own buisness and I have to very large doggies too! It was a dream in the making for a few years and I finally just pushed with it! Best advice...dont give it up! Even if your not ready to "open" just keep writing your ideas, thoughts and keep planning. When the time is right you will know and sometime the timing sux but the opportunity presents its self!
Best wishes and hang in there!

One other thing to think about...
If your pushing it off becouse of family time...what happens if you have kids? Once that happens the timing will never be good...that was my biggest thing...I figured if I was going to take the chance I needed to do it before the kids came along...
