Interesting article I just read. Sometimes it makes you wonder!!!

Trying not to see as a "conspiracy" but sometimes it DOES make you wonder what is really going on behind the scenes if big drug companies do have a say indirectly into what is going on in Gov. agencies. Never mind the obvious opinion of the writter, it dues raise suspicion regardless.

Former head of CDC lands lucrative job as president of Merck vaccine division (opinion)

http://www.naturaln ews.com/027789_ Dr_Julie_ Gerberding_ Merck.html

Editor of NaturalNews. com

NaturalNews) You've heard it before, how the pharmaceutical industry has a giant "revolving door" through which corporations and government agencies frequently exchange key employees. That reality was driven home in a huge way today when news broke that Dr. Julie Gerberding, who headed the CDC from 2002 through 2009, landed a top job with Merck, one of the largest drug companies in the world. Her job there? She's the new president of the vaccine division.

How convenient. That means the former head of the CDC was very likely cultivating a relationship with Merck all these years, and now comes the big payoff: Heading up a $5 billion division that sells cervical cancer vaccines (like Gardasil), chickenpox vaccines and of course H1N1 swine flu vaccines, too.

So what's the problem with all this? The problem is that private industry and government health offices such as the CDC or FDA should never be so cozy. When they are, it creates an environment of collusion between Big Government and Big Pharma. We've already seen this with the government-led push for swine flu vaccines that are manufactured (and sold) by drug companies like Merck.

You might even say that the CDC already functions as the marketing division of the pharmaceutical industry. It was the CDC that pushed so hard for swine flu vaccines, even amid the obvious realization that swine flu was no more dangerous than seasonal flu. To this day, the CDC still hasn't bothered to recommend vitamin D for the prevention of either seasonal flu or swine flu. It remains heavily invested in the lucrative vaccine approach -- an approach that just happens to financially benefit the very corporations that are hiring ex-CDC employees like Dr. Gerberding.

It happens EVERYDAY .. a family member was able to open up my eyes when he helped me with my senior thesis about drug pharma .. He works for the FDA, and I can't even believe some of the things I've heard.

I thought there was a mandory 2 year that you had to sit to move from a Gov. job to a private sector job.

it depends. some jobs require you to sign a contract...but I've seen them broken before with little consequence.0

I actually was thinking something similar...

That as head of the CDC, don't they really have the most information to head up a vaccine division? I mean, who else would know more about it?

ughh....govt is just pissing me off these days. this doesnt surprise me.

pharma companies pay big money to make textbooks that are used in medical schools. part of the reason why drugs are pushed hard instead of alternative medicines.

What I have been saying all along. Do NOT trust the Govt. to make decisions for you about things regarding safety..IMO this proves how skewed peopls motives can be.

Look at the author before getting upset. He appears to be a "naturalist" and would of course, be against vaccines. I do not find this to be a very credible source.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Thank you. I mean as I was reading the article, I was thinking, did this MD really set out when she took the job with the CDC in 2002 to manipulate everything in the USA as far as vaccines go? Or could it be that she was looking for a new job, maybe that paid a little better, or had better benefits, just like we do, and the best offer came from the Merck vaccine division, for which her skills and experience with the CDC put her as the front-runner for the job?

I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps as the former head of the CDC she wants to HELP people, and thinks she can do this be working with the companies that give people life-saving vaccines.

But its more likely that when she took the job with the CDC she knew that she would someday down the road become the head of the vaccine division at Merck, and she figured this would be the best way to manipulate the public and give them poisonous, horrible vaccines.

First off the source of the article "natural news.com" is suspect.

From what I read someone who worked for the CDC got offered a more lucrative job working for a drug company and took them up on it.

Working as a physician in government doesn't pay well. It looks like she's had a pretty long and substantive career (as per wikipedia) and now wants to reap the benefits and make some cash. I don't see anything wrong with that.
