she's playing with Daddy and I heard her count from 1-15! all by herself!

When the HECK did she learn THAT trick?

She specifically asks for Micky Mouse Clubhouse, momma.

Man.. I KNOW you guys told me. I know I tell those moms who are delayed with their kiddos too but hot diggity it is UNREAL how quickly she's catching up.

(as shes screaming 1-2-3- go to her daddy in the background)

for those with late speakers.. my kiddo was 28m in Dec, she's 30m now. It will happen and when it does.. its FREAKY but wonderful all at the same time!


ETA she also sings ALL of twinkle twinkle little star.

and can i say my DD is obsessed with mickey mouse club right now and it from what i can see is an amazing teaching show! colours, numbers, shapes etc!

Good for her! And how great for you! My son was a late talker also, and when words finally did come, they came very quickly. He went from using just a few words to speaking in short sentences so fast, it was amazing.

I know it's sweet at any age to hear your child speak, but especially so when there has been a delay! Congrats!

Seriously when you waited THIS long and worried and worried and second guess everything... EACH little speech is like a present. I can NOT explain it.

I never had her tell me "giraffe" or "cow" or any of that. NOW she just speaks completely "Momma, giraffe?" yes darling a giraffe, very good "Thank you very much"



I must look like an idiot who woke up to find out she was a mom. Every time she drops a bomb of some thought out expression I'm just floored. Jim says "You look like you've never heard her speak before" to which I say "I haven't, have YOU!?"

Its unlike anything.

Its like someone plugged in the sound to an awesome drama and all of sudden you can HEAR what it is that's going on. Like WOW, I thought the show was good before, now its even BETTER!

ETA: I'm bias but I think refusing to 'baby talk' her has paid off. She uses such polite and thoughtful phrases. I love it. She's a little mini-me. I loathe slang and lazy speech patterns. I hope she isn't as harassed as I was for my speech patterns while I also hope she is better spoken than I am!

Thanks for the encouraging post.

DS is on the late side with talking. At 23m, he is doing 2-3 word phrases now but still far from having complete conversations with us.

Recently we read Happiest Toddler on the Block and it was suggested to us that we speak in toddlerese. Hmmm...maybe we should stick with adult talk. I was beginning to think we spoke like adults too much to him so he wasn't catching on as fast.
