I'm so frustrated with buying a new house!
This is my 3rd transaction and by far the most stressful. We went into contract to sell my current house. At the time there was nothing we wanted to buy and was going to rent. The next day a house in the development we wanted came on. I immediately went to see it and put down a full priced offer, it was accepted - all within 2 hours of being listed. We had the inspection done the next day. Signed contracts and put down the deposit the day after that. That was 2 weeks ago. It was too easy I guess.
We received a copy of the fully executed contracts via email last night and it seems they added clauses to the rider that we did not originally agree to or even know about. It was never discussed. Things like items they excluding that are normally kept with the house and they were not listed as excluded on the listing. There was only one item on the inspection report we asked them to remediate because it was a safety concern. The estimated cost is $1500. They put a clause in there that we agreed to accept a credit for less than that amount. The last discussion we had was that they were going to fix it at their expense before closing.
What is going on???? If we lose this deal I'll be heartbroken, but I can't afford to replace and fix all the stuff they are suddenly deciding to take with them unless we get a credit or reduce the sale price. I bet they got greedy because they got full asking so fast. Also, even though it shouldn't matter but they bought the house 8 years ago and are making a $200K profit!!! It just makes me so angry. I hate this process.

Call your lawyer and find out what's going on. They can't amend a document once you have signed. That is to be done beforehand

We did. He said he's worked with this lawyer before and doesn't care for him because in an effort to "expedite" things he will make changes without negotiation or discussion and hopes they just get passed through.
He's working on it, but its just holding up the entire process.

Ugh that sucks! But hopefully all gets amended and do not let them do this to you. Just because they got full asking does not mean they can go back on their contract!

sorry your going through this...this whole process is insane! buying a house my self and I have never been so stressed in my life!

sorry your going through this...this whole process is insane! buying a house my self and I have never been so stressed in my life!
They drew up the contract and we signed first. We got a copy back last night with their signatures along with a bunch of handwritten changes and a new rider page with new stuff on it and no signatures on that page. SO sneaky. This is the same attorney the people used for the house we are living in now. I remember fighting with him then too.
Maybe it's him and not the people!!
