If you received a "sprinkle" invitation...

and there was a specific message that gifts were not necessary, would you still bring one?

Im having a "sprinkle" and since this is #3 I really don't need anything except for a few things which I can just buy for myself. I still want to have something because I feel that every baby should have a celebration whether it's the first or fifth child in the family.

So if you saw that note at the bottom of an invite would you still bring something?

I would, but something small, just because I would want to give something and not show up empty handed.

yes i would, although i would have no idea what to make of the invite. Chat Icon

To be invited to a sprinkle and say gifts not necessary... i'd be confused as to why someone would be having the sprinkle TBH. Chat Icon

I too like the idea of every child be celebrated ~ I would bring a little something for the new baby. (because I wanted to)

Re: If you received a "sprinkle" invitation...

i would find the wording strange and feel obligated to bring a gift, IMO.
what if you have a gathering after the baby is born to celebrate him/her? people will prob want to buy the baby a gift anyway, you're celebrating your new LO and they will get to see the baby.
the whole point of a sprinkle is to sprinkle to new mom to be with gifts.

I actually just received one and although it had registry info on it, I would still bring a small gift had it been the opposite situation... I dont understand how anyone could think of going someplace empty handed Chat Icon

I agree. I totally understand the want to celebrate the baby, but it might be nice for everyone to meet the new Chat Icon once he is here.

Re: If you received a "sprinkle" invitation...

I would definately bring a gift. I crochet so I'd probably make a matching hat and blanket set for the baby --- maybe something that the Mom could use for bringing the baby home or something along those lines. Something special that might not have cost too much money, but holds some sentimental value.

But I also think a small party after the baby is a great idea also...a gathering of close family and friends to celebrate this new addition!

For the sprinkles I've invited to, it was always someone I was planning to give a gift to anyway. I knit so I had a sweater in the works for the baby anyway.

DH's friends always have "showers" where they just give diapers. Maybe you could write something like that?

Re: If you received a "sprinkle" invitation...

I would still bring a gift and I agree that I'd be confused at a Sprinkle invitation that said no gifts, since showers and sprinkles are really to shower/sprinkle the mom with gifts of some sort.

If you just want a celebration, I would do it after baby is born so everyone can meet him/her.

Or maybe do a theme gift like someone suggested - books for baby only? diapers only? Maybe with a mention to, we have most of what we need, but if you'd like to bring a gift, baby can always use diapers/books/etc. KWIM?

I had a sprinkle and the hostess asked people to bring an outfit for baby. I would want to bring something to any event I go to... So I would instruct as to what.
