If you name your childs toys or stuffed animals, what do you tend to call them?

I think my sister always does names.

I tend to call everything Mister. Mr. Frog, Mr. Bunny etc.

How about you, or your child if they are old enough?

Yes, I name all DS's stuffed animals.

His fav is this rattle snake... I call it Squirmy, but only b/c I was playing with it listening to the kids station on XM and a song came on about squirmy the worm

Pogo is his bear from the show Mad TV

Alfosno is his stuffed giraffe b/c I love doing an Italian accent even though I'm not Italian, but Alfonso is from Italy b/c that's where mommmy and daddy went right b4 they started TTC

Spot - his stuffed dog b/c it has spots on it (yes... I know, very creative)

The others are obvious... Pooh, Mickey, etc.

I name others, but if he wants to change them he can (when he can speak)

I tend to add vowels to the end of their names and girl

ie...Giraffie Girl

Their dolls I just call Dolly

ETA-When I was little ALL of my dolls had names! I am sure I will be naming their dolls soon

My DH names every one of them.

I don't even know where some of them come from - some from pets or animals he had as a kid, sometimes they are named after the person who gave them to DS, sometimes they are named for their physical features (we have a star shaped bear called "twinkles").

I usually just call them "Mr" or "Ms" (like Mr Lamb, Ms Piggy).

If I do name them, the name has to start with the same letter as the toy/stuffed animal, like Geoffrey the giraffe. I'm not very good though. Right now she has a dragonfly named Dudley. Don't even know where I pulled that one out of .

eta - the other day, we were watching 101 dalmations and miki went in, brought spot out and said "look spot, we are watching your movie"...spot stayed on the couch and watched "his" movie with us

My 5 year old has named all of his stuffed animals he sleeps with by himself.

We have....

a rabbit named "Bear"
a tiger named "Meow"
a rabbit named "Snowy"
and a giraffe named "Raffy"

I do a lot of "Mr" names too. Also boring names based on their color, so we have stuffed animals named "Pinky", "Whitey", "Spots", etc. I never said I was creative!

DS really only cares about his two monkeys. He got the first one when he was a baby and his name is Petey. WHen he got really attached to it I went and bought a second one, in case Petey went missing at some point. She became the girl and we named her Penelope.

Christopher has mainly stuffed animals from TV shows, we have Brobee, Mickey, Boots, Ming Ming, Tuck and soon Max and Ruby

He does have a Bear and then Boston (from BU, my sister's alma mater) and Becca (which is an anteater from UC Irvine, DH's cousin Becca goes there and got it for him)

his seahorse is Mimzy
He has a caterpillar that has a lot of "feet" so he is Mr. socks

I always do people names for stuffed things, for some reason...except Mama Cat

When she was obsessed with puppies, every one had a human name (Otis, Stella, Piper, Brutus, etc.)

She knows all of their names...we name EVERYTHING in this house, first it was my doing, now she does it

We were more creative (well DH was!) when DS was a baby.

Mrs fanny the frog
Frank the Fish
Samy the Snack
Etc..

Then I started a tradition last year (2 Chrismas now!) of going a build a bear.

1st bear = Bear
2nd bear = Bear 2 NO KIDDING!
I think we will have "bear 3" next year.

We used to do the naming so he has:

Ginger the Giraffe (he calls her Gingie now)
Freddie the Frog
Jerry the Giraffe
Charlotte the Chicken

But lately he comes up with his own names for toys, so he has a zebra named Blue (it is blue), Sam the Monkey, Ollie the train car (he mostly has Thomas cars that come named, but this one is a Melissa and Doug one with no name), and today we made a snowman he calls Guy.

We use the colors - so "pink bear" "white bunny" brown bear" although some we just call "elephant" and "Ducky"

Not everything has a name yet but some have Swahili names..I know, strange but my brother lives in Africa and speaks Swahili and when he was home at Christmas he started calling DD's animals by their Swahili names. So, Sophie the Giraffe we now call Twiga, her blue elephant is Tembo, and her monkey is Nyani (not sure of this spelling). I am so not that creative and basically call everything else like Doggy and Ducky etc..
