If you have a Landscaper

If you have a land scaper, How much does it cost per month? What service do they perform on a normal month? I dont know if I should pay a land scaper or buy a lawn mower and do it myself...I am thinking a landscaper can get expensive, right?
Thanks,
Scott

Re: If you have a Landscaper

We don't have a landscaper -- just a gardening service. They cut and edge once a week, every Friday morning. They charge $24/week which is a bargain if you ask me!! We don't have any chemicals put down, but they can do that if you want (but don't!!).

A landscaper would be putting in bushes, trimming your hedges, hoeing the garden... we just get the lawn done.

DH used to rush home on Tuesdays to mow the lawn in time to get the clippings out for Wed. am pickup. He works in NYC - leaves at 6:30am and gets home 6:30-7:00 pm so for $24, this was definitely worth it to me -- to keep his sanity and his good mood!!

Re: If you have a Landscaper

I have my DH as a landscaper.
The price will depend on the size of your property.
Yes, they are going up, but that is only because of the gas prices are going up.

Re: If you have a Landscaper

Ours charges 20 a week, they do the edging, blowing, clean out the beds, mow the lawn front and back, rake if they need too, prep the lawn for any areas that may need air or new seed and water the property- they come back and turn it off too.

extra would be to fertilize, trim bushes, put seed down.

We are on a 75 x 100 lot. We pay $30 per week, plus then for the "speciality" services like when they put those treatments down (I think 3 or 4 times per year), spring/fall cleanup, and when they turn on and off the sprinkler system for the year.

Mine is $20/week for basic mowing, weed control, leaving blowing, trimming, etc. My landscaper does a fall and spring clean up which is extra. He also puts done fertilizer and other stuff as necessary which is extra.

Worth the hours it would take Dh each weekend! (and we don't have a huge yard by any means)

Re: If you have a Landscaper

We pay $20 a week and then $25 everyother month for ferterlizer and $350 in the begining of the year for the spring clean up.

For us it was totally worth it b/c we had no grass on 3/4 of our yard and he planted seed and put down soil etc so it was worth the 350 to get it going.

We were going to do the weekly maintance but for what it is going to cost me to get a good mower, edger, weed wacker, blower etc and the time and energy it is probally one the better $20 bucks a week that I pay. And we figured it is only for a few months out of the year.

Re: If you have a Landscaper

We pay $65 a month. Our guy comes once a week during rainy season and every other week during non rainy season. He does everything. Mow, trim, fertilize when needed, blow. He does an amazing job.

Re: If you have a Landscaper

I'm on 100x100 prop. We pay the landscaper $82/month. That's to mow and turn over the beds. also includes fall cleanup and spring clean up, and fertilizers and stuff. I think my DH is just going to do it himself next year just to save a little extra $. We'll just get someone for the fall cleanup, cuz that's a pain in the you know what!
