If you have a cleaning person/service...
...are you home when they clean your house?
I'm trying to find someone to clean our house, and most of the people I've contacted don't clean on the weekends. But we both work during the week, so we can't be home while they're there.
Is it unusual to have people coming into your house while you're not there? If they're from a cleaning company that is licensed and insured?
I just don't know what to do!

Sometimes I am home, sometimes I am not. I prefer not to be home just because I always feel like I'm in the way when she is cleaning. I even gave her a key for one of the locks so she can get in if I'm not home. I trust her. Maybe thats naive, but I'd rather believe it the good and risk losing an ipod than live in fear and be inconvenienced by a service thats supposed to make my life easier!

About 6 months now. I found her on care.com since I was new to the area and couldn't get a personal recommendation from anyone.

i'm home when she comes.
a friend of mine uses the same woman and usually isn't home for her and gave her a key. my friend has been using this woman for 8 yrs.

I am usually home when my cleaning ladies come because I am a SAHM, but my cousin uses them too and she works so she leaves them a key. I wouldn't do this unless I had a personal recommendation that the person was extremely trustworthy though.
Fact is, even when you're home they can always lift something from a drawer or your medicine cabinet or something...you just have to hope you can trust them.

When I worked FT I wasn't home.
Our cleaning lady cleans alot of our friends houses and has been cleaning the house of person who recommended her to us for the last 10 years. So there was really no trust issue.
Now that I work PT, I'm actually home on the day she comes.
