If you had success with 3 day potty training, Lora Jensen method especially, please come in...

First off, please let me know if you did the method by Lora Jensen's eBook or followed a rogue Internet article.

I've read Lora Jensen's eBook and plan on trying her method in a week or so. I think DS is more ready than I am, being 25 weeks pregnant and exhausted! DS is 30 months and I really wish I'd done it earlier because I really think he was ready earlier.

I've been getting prepped with potty prizes, stickers, charts, underpants (requested by DS from Santa Chat Icon ) washed and ready, waterproof pads for bed, getting him off his nightime water addiction, etc.

Just wanted some tips from your successes. Tell me things you did not follow to the letter.

Did you do nighttime training at the same time (I see some foregoing that and using pull-ups)? Did you sleep in DC's room as she suggests? My neighbor is getting rid of her DC's crib mattress so I thought I could pull that in to sleep on after he falls asleep.

What do you feel was the best working part as well as something you could have been successful without doing?

As mentioned, I'm pregnant, we are in the middle of a basement, office and big boy room reno in time for the new baby in April and I'm exhausted so I'm so positive I'm going to cut corners but I really want to give my best effort to be successful in 3 days or less!

Thank you for any tips!Chat Icon I'm so dragging my feet to start. Chat Icon

Re: If you had success with 3 day potty training, Lora Jensen method especially, please come in...

I did it, ebook.

I did NOT follow the night time rule. No way was I waking up DD at night. So I used pullups. Had her pee always right before bed and limit drinks before, but always a pullup at night.

Another thing I did differently was I did use pullups when out or when DD went to school. My DD got it so fast (she was just a few mths under 3) that she still knew not to use the pulllup as a diaper.

At night, in the beginning, she would just urinate in the pullup. I didnt mind and it didnt seem to harm her daytime habits. Then slowly she started waking at night to ask to pee.

In a few mths, when I felt confident that she clearly wasnt going to have an accident and her bladder could hold it longer, I did away with daytime pullups.

I still use them at night, simply b/c I just cant be bothered changing sheets and clothes at night if she has a nighttime accident. Most nights she wakes on her own to pee but some nights she may use the pullup if she is super exhausted and I guess does not feel it.

For my DD, using a pullup did not harm her behavior in using the toilet (we did that, only used a toilet, never a kids potty). But for some kids, using a pullup makes them become lazy and they just pee or poop in it. You have to see how it goes for your child. My DD was very eager to use the toilet and clearly was ready for it. Only you can tell as time goes on.

For us, by day 2, DD got the hang of it. Good luck!!!

Thanks. Yeah, if I skip one step, it will be the sleeping in DS' room. Sleeping on a crib mattress on the floor at 26 weeks pregnant is just not thrilling to me!

We did this and again skipped the night time training. It worked swimmingly. I put a pull up on at night and when he turned 3 1/2 I started doing the night time training. But I did night time training our way no pull up no liquids for at least an hour before bedtime. Last potty trip and NO GATE on his door. He picked up on it quick. He woke one night wet and after that rude awakening he started going on his own!

Cool thanks. Yeah, another thing, DS is still in his crib until we finish his big boy room before the new baby. So another reason why I may do pull ups for night too.

Just this method over the past weekend. Started last Thursday and we used the whole weekend.
I went with the advice from others on here and decided to use pull ups at night. We call them night time underwear that she has to keep dry all night.
No liquids after 6/630. She is asleep by 9( usually)
And she uses the potty several times before going in her crib.
so far she has woken up in the middle of the night a few Times calling for me because she has to go potty. I run in, get her from crib, go potty, back to bed.
I rather her wake up and call us to help than change sheets and clothes.
I do have the crib set up with a mattress protector, sheet and another protector and another sheet. Just in case there is an accident I can just rip the top layer off.

I don't find that to be the case at all. Ann has been in pull ups and/or easy ups for quite a while (way before I was even going to attempt training) and I can probably count on one hand the times we've had a leak.

Same here. Never found them to be any less absorbent than the diapers she used to wear. Also they are peeing less b/c they do urinate in the toilet before bed.

BTW< OP...I also still have my 3yo in the crib so pullups worked best for us re that as well. Once we get her a big girl bed, she can get right off the bed on her own and run to the bathroom.

Thanks, I know. He's actually been in pull ups for a few days because I only have 4 diapers left and I've been telling him no more diapers after these. I have the pull ups from previous unsuccessful non committed (on my part) attempts. I feel like they are helping him get ready as he's telling me right away when he goes and they are getting both of us used to getting changed/dressed standing up.

I would also think the night time pull ups hold more than the regulars that I have.

This was my DD exactly. We did pull up (and still do with longer rides in the car etc). She trained very easily as well. Our only issue was during the christmas holiday (eve, day and day after) she had some accidents! And she hadn't had an accident since day #2 of the training. She got very excited and overwhelmed by the toys that she would get lazy and go in her underpants (just pee not poop). I strongly believe it was the excitement of the holiday bc after that she did great again!!
So bc of those 3 rough days I decide to keep using the pull up for the car (we never have a pull up on in the house, only overnight).
Good luck to you!
