Re: if you had a whole day to spend in the city

If the weather is nice, I take a book to central park and sit on one of the lawns and read.

If we are talking about today, I would go to a museum, meet a friend for lunch and maybe do some shopping. Maybe get a massage.

ETA: I live in the city so wandering around a neighborhood is something I do often, but if I didn't, I would wonder around Soho or the village.

shopping on 5th ave. Take in a matinee if it was Wednesday or Saturday..skate at Rock Center...have lunch somewhere fabulous and trendy or have lunch from one of the carts at Bryant Park and sit outside if it was nice.

I would also go to the Statue of Liberty. Take the 1 train down to South Ferry and jump on a ferry. Buy a few souveniers..

hmmm....there's a lot of different things you can do depending on where you'd like to be.

uptown
midtown
downtown

walking along musuem mile and going up to the cloisters would be lovely if the day is nice (uptown) you can end at the Museum of Natural History and grab a bite...lots to choose from in the area.

midtown...start or end at Columbus Circle. tons of shops, strolling through the park, the fountain at Lincoln Center...maybe catching a show at the Met or philharmonic. or an IMAX movie at the IMAX theatre, Rock Center, Top of the Rock

downtown....soho...tribeca....tons of walking. brunch options...battery park...museum of the american indian, statue of liberty...Fraunces Tavern museum.

there is really so much more. have fun!

I would definately take a nice stroll in Central park (Weather permitting, of course). Then have a nice lunch at an outdoor cafe in the village.

On a nice day I would definitely hit 5th Avenue, Barney's, Bendel's, etc. Have some lunch maybe at Tavern on the Green and then hit the CP Zoo and then just walk around and relax...

Re: if you had a whole day to spend in the city

I told someone else this yesterday, but it is a few of my favs

How about Brunch in the village, then some light shopping

You could then head uptown to the Mandarian Oriental and have a fabulous Mojito on their 35th floor overlooking AMAZING views of NYC and Cnetral Park.

You could then go through the Time Warner Mall

Sushi Samba

Manis/pedis and a massage at Dorit Baxter

Re: if you had a whole day to spend in the city

I'm partial to the East Village since I went to school there and don't get into the city much anymore to visit. So, I would probably stroll around there, eat at one of my old hangouts and then head uptown to a museum or to do some shopping.

shopping on 5th avenue between 14th and 23rd street.
Id love to go to Tavern on the Green - never been there.
I'd have to stop in FAO Shwartz just for the heck of it.

Brunch at Cafe Lalo on 83rd
Guggenheim on 89th
On to Central Park
Shakespeare garden
Belvidere Castle
Ramble
Strawberry Fields
Bethesda Terrace
Angel of the Waters

If I feel up to it, dinner at Cesca on 75th

No nightlife because I'd be dead tired and wanting my bed. I'm no spring chicken anymore. Chat Icon
