If you child was too young for the flu shot last year...
If your child was too young for the flu shot last year, did your Ped suggest getting two shots this year (spaced out by a month or so)?
DS was born in August, and he was too young for the flu shot last year. He got the flu shot this year, but they said if they had a lot of vials left, that they'd recommend getting the shot a secod time this fall.
Did anyone else's Ped suggest this?

DS got it b/c he was just 6 months and going to daycare. THe Ped suggested it, but he did get two. THe 2nd one is the booster and is more effective when they give two. After that I think they only get 1 every year

Yes, the first time they get the flu shot they will get 2 shots. It would have been the same thing if your DC had been old enough to get the shot last year.

It's standard practice. The first time my DS had the flu shot, he got 2. My DD just had her 2nd shot last week because she's 11 mnths and was not old enough last year.
Totally normal.

It is standard to get 2 shots the 1st year you get the flu shot for I think children 6 months to something like 8 years of age per the CDC.
You give them at least 30 days apart. The 1st year the get the shot you only get 80% immunity until you get that second shot.
