If anyone's looking for a pediatric ENT...
I went to a great one yesterday!! Dr. Mendelsohn in Garden City. he was sweet and patient and thorough!
we thought Ian may have a hearing problem. He doesn't always answer when we call his name. So when I mentioned it to the ped he said lets just rule it out and get a hearing test. Mostly because my sister and I grew up with hearing problems.
So I took him yesterday and they gave a hearing test to an 11 month old! i had no idea how they do it. but i sit in the booth with him on my lap and they have speakers on both sides of the room. so when sound came out of the speakers they look to see if he turns his head to the noise.
turns out he has perfect hearing!! i actually almost cried during the test when i saw him responding to each sound. the doctor just said that at his age they cant determine if one ear is better than the other (until they're 4 and can use the headphones). but he said because he passed the newborn hearing test he's 99% sure he's fine in both ears.
turns out he's a typical male and chooses not to listen.

we went to him too when ds kept getting recurrent ear infections. Thankfully we didnt need him but he was great!!!
I would highly recommend him as well

DS had a hearing test too - he didn't do as well as your son. It was before his tubes though (lots of ear infections)
I said that its not fair - he doens't understand that he's supposed to look at the noise - if he didn't care, he wouldn't look.

He did TJ's tonsils and adenoid surgery and Derek's ear tubes.

the doctor asked if my DS responds when we say his name, and i felt the same way--said "about 40% of the time, just like DH"
