Who takes care of it? The town or you? My Mom lost a HUGE pine tree. The TOH website says they will take care of it but no one has called or anything and there are two huge trees blocking her street.. one is hersChat Icon

Re: If a tree falls from your yard and blocks the street...

Last night a tree was uprooted in our front yard and it blocked the street. We hadn't heard it fall but someone notified the volunteer fire dept. and they came and cleared the street, but they only pushed the tree off the road. They cut up a few large limbs to be able to move it and it's now in our yard and our neighbor's yard. We're going to arrange to have it cut up and carted away (it's a pine - to sappy for firewood) and we'll take care of the stuff they pushed to the neighbor's yard too.

We had this happen during an ice storm this winter. The town came and removed the part blocking the road and then came back a few days later to cut up and remove the rest of it.

What town are you in? Was the tree on the easement so it was on town property? I'd feel better about our high taxes if the town would remove our downed tree.

I am Upstate in Saratoga County. The tree was in the Right of Way, but the town wasn't sure of that when they did the removal (we talked about it after the fact because we wanted the rest of the tree taken down). There were a lot trees down from that storm and the town cleaned up anything that fell into the Right of Way even if the tree itself was on private property.
