So here is what I have for the playroom so far:

I labeled the pictures to give you an idea and I hope this helps.
The area rug is going and I think I am going to do iFlor carpet tiles, not sure yet.
Also, the layout is going to change once I move those boxes out of their. The storage unit is staying on that wall though.

The opposite wall with the chair rail is going to be the same

Honestly, I would stay away from bright yellow, red, orange and any colors that have a lot of these in the mix.

Studies show it makes one uncomfortable and easily distracted. That's the primary reason why fast food places (McDonald's in the 70's) decorate in such a color palate... they want you in and out.

If you think of the colors in most classrooms, ped offices, etc. they tend to be light green (more towards grey, not yellow), off white with a lot of pink.

If you are returning the blue items, I'd paint a blue color (subdued) and then get a couple of quarts of a red and green that match the items you posted and paint big dots or other design on the wall.

We have the same thing. But with a white wood table.

I am doing a jungle theme and I will be painting the walls in a bright green like the chair/bins.

I like your idea of a neutral color. What about a light beige or cream. Then maybe hang some brightly colored pictures that have a theme.

I think a light green would work! But I really like the idea of a neutral color beige, tan, brown.

My bedroom has three walls a light beige called BM Mushroom Barley and a great shade of brown for the accent wall which is BM Coriander Seed! I LOVE THE ACCENT WALL - it is so warm w/o being over the top! I will try and take pics!

I would do a lighter version of the green (the color the chairs will be).

Actually, oranges and reds are stimulating colors - not so much to the level of discomfort but rather they stimulate hunger (red) and creativity (orange).

I think playrooms should be fun and vibrant and would save the subdued for the nursery & office. That's coming from someone who painted 2 walls in her daughter's playroom "Calypso Orange" Chat Icon

I would go with a complimentary color and think the yellow would be fun.

what about adding a chair rail and painting the bottom with chalkboard paint and the top green or red? you can easily break up the bolder top color by added large art peices and picture framed corkboards .

Re: I need some color help for playroom because I'm stumped.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

After reading the suggestions and speaking to DH I convinced him to let me do the following:

Doing the wall where the storage unit is going in brown and the opposite wall which has an 8ft. closet so it is very little brown that will frame it.
Then on the other 2 walls I am going to a chair rail with paint. The bottom in brown and the top a green similar to the chair but I think a little warmer and not as bright. Then my "chair rail" in a gold color about 2 inches thick.
I can't do a wood chair rail because the paneling is real and the space between the slats are a half inch thick. I also can't do chalk board paint on the bottom because the roughness of the paneling (that was my first thought actually).
I plan on enlarging some of the marble art DS did in school last year, frame it and hand it on one wall and then when DD goes to school and does it put it on the other wall.

I really need to take pictures to explain it better.

I hope I can execute it well.

BEFORE YOU PAINT!!! IF YOU WANT CHALK BOARD... LOOK UP MARTHA STEWART... YOU CAN DO IT IN ANY COLOR!!

it doesn't have to be black.

my kids loved it!! i did it on the side of the island in the kitchen and kept them busy on rainy cold days... it's a great fun thing. we even played on there.. (DH and I)

Our room is upstairs with the sloppes ceilings. I am doing the bottom part brown (like the "dirt"/ tree trunks). The upper part will be bright green (like the chair).

I have the same bookcase system and bins.

Since I am doing a jungle theme. I have some stuffed monkeys/animals I will attach to the walls

On the ceiling I am doing this:

how does the gold tie into the room? being that there are so many colors already (green, blue, red and white) i would not add yet another color. IMO the "chair rail" should be white.

not to throw you off track but i happen to like the color of the walls. why not add chair rail and leave either the bottom or top the current color?

if you do decide to use brown, remember to incorporate the color elsewhere in the room (picture frames?).

yeah I don't get the gold either for the chair rail.Chat Icon I would leave it white. I agree with skew about leaving the wall color and maybe just adding one color to the bottom or top half of the chair rail. Brown seems really dark for a childs play room IMO. When you say brown, how dark of a brown is it?

Honestly it seems like there is too much going on with the different colors. I also wouldnt paint a dark brown for a small childs playroom. Sorry that is just my honest opinion.

agree. having trouble visualizing the brown and a warm green with the brighter colors of the furniture.

if your theme was outdoorsy i could totally see a brown and green wall with painted white tree silhouettes on the wall. i honestly think that you need to stick with the colors (lime green, chinese red, bright robin eggs blue, crisp white) that are already the focal points in the room and not introduce more colors.

Example of green/white walls. I would stick to the colors you already have. No gold!

I like the concept of that wall. Like maybe painted white leaves on a green wall.

I agree, the photos with the green are so adorable! I would go with these colors.
