I need any potty training tips you have to offer! Update w/ question about time on potty

DD (28 months) has been peeing/pooping on the potty randomly for a few weeks now. But I never got rid of the diapers, so she would only tell me if she had to go if she felt like it...

Today I decided to ditch the diapers, and she's been wearing underwear all day...we are not up to our 5th pair bc she had 4 accidents already. 2 were poop, but the 2nd one was my fault since I should have known it was coming bc it was right after the 1st poop accident, and she usually poops more than what she did.

Is this ok? Should I just keep up with it now? We don't have to go anywhere today or tomorrow, so I can try again tomorrow, but we do have plans for Wednesday...

HELP!

Update:
Day 2 is a little better, but I've been putting her on the potty a lot more frequently, and she seems to be catching herself mid accident and stopping and telling me, and then finishing on he potty. Still no poop today.

But, how long should inlet her sit on the potty at a time? She will literally site there for 30-45 minutes with the iPad if I let her, and she does pee, but I feel like this isn't good bc she's still not learning the signals to go, she's just going as she sits there...what's a good time limit for sitting on the potty?

i agree that shes to young.

I teird with dd around 2 1/2 also, b/c she was asking and sitting and all that on the potty, but she wasn't ready. Afetr dealing with accidnets all day I gave up for a 2 months and then she was ready and trained in a day. W estayed in all weekend just to make sure but she's been accident free, mostly since. She had a few 2 or 3 at night in the beginning but that was it.

We had a lot of accidents day 1 but, it clicked on day 2 (well, with number 1). I would try again tomorrow and see what it brings. DS was a lot older though when we did it (he was about 40 months).

She is absolutely not too young. I had DD1 trained at 25 months, and plan on training DD2 even earlier. If you are going to take the diaper off, you need to watch her every move and get her to the toilet right before or during a pee or poop. I suggest reading the 3 day method - it works. Just keep reminding her to tell you when she has to go, ask her all the time to check if her underwear is dry. When she has an accident explain that she needs to tell you when she has to go.

Agree with all of this. DD was trained the week she turned 2.

I agree..I followed the 3 day plan to the T and she was trained day and night in a week. She was 26 months old.
You really need to be able to pay attention to her and not leave for 3 days. I never asked DD if she needed to go I would remind her that she needs to tell me if she has to go. I mean I was repeating myself every half hour. It worked.

Thanks everyone!! I didn't watch her as closely as I should have with this today, tomorrow I'll be more on top of things. :)

I need any potty training tips you have to offer!

I potty trained my son at three with many failed attempts before then! I was ready to give up on day two! We had like 11 accidents, crying episodes and more! Lol

Day three was like a new kid! He did wonderful and we never looked back! Day four I was out for the whole day, shopping, lunch with my mom and he did great! Now he can last like 4 hours and does great!

Good luck!!

Not young at all, my DD. Was fully trained by 18 months. DS is 1 and I started training this week. First step is take the potty and put it out for DC to sit on, even with the diaper/clothes on.

18 months??? Wow pretty good. DD went in the potty a couple random times that young but I figured it was too young so I didn't bother to try full time. How did you do it? Any tips?

Don't let her sit there at all. If she doesn't go in a minute or two, take her off.

I started EC at a very early age, around 8 mo. Other than that honestly I don't remember much of how I did it. All I know is that by 18 mo she was going on a potty without a problem and by 20 mo we had no more accidents, day or night. It was all with the help of my mother and my sister, I come from an Ukrainian family and kids are potty trained very early on (not just in Ukraine but in most of Eastern Europe & former soviet countries) They don't believe in kids being "ready" they believe you can train a child when YOU (parent) are ready. Seems to work because I don't know anyone from there who has a child over the age of 2 still in diapers.

Thank you! Not only do I think she's ready, or almost ready, but I'm ready. I'm due w/ #2 in March and I refuse to have 2 in diapers! My goal is to have her fully trained by the New Year, or at least fully trained during the day!
