I need a birthday present idea for DH's 40th!!
HELP! nothing like waiting until the last minute! DH turns 40 on Monday, we are celebrating this weekend with family only - no big parties or anything, he's not the type to want a surprise party. Most his friends live out of state anyway, so with no big party (plus we are saving for baby, who will arrive in just weeks), I feel like I need to get him a nice present, other than some new work pants!
He's NOT into sports... He works 6-7 days a week, sometimes 10-12 hours a day, so he doesn't really have any hobbies. He has an iPad, and a regular PC laptop.
I was thinking of upgrading him to the iPad 2, but is it really worth it if he's already got the original iPad AND an iPhone 4s? Then I feel like if I do get him the new iPad 2, my 7 year old would think the old iPad is his!
I know he loves his Apple gadgets and have heard him talk about going to a MAC. He would need a laptop. Where do I start? What's a good starter MAC laptop that will last, has good memory and can be used for all his video and gaming stuff?
Then I feel like this will totally blow any budget I had in mind, so this is why I am asking for some unique suggestions!!

I am in the same exact position. DH is turning 40 on Wednesday. No big parties, no real hobbies and works a ton. He also into all the apple gadgets. Doesn't like jewlery and said he did not want a watch.
I had my parents and sister chip in and give him a Apple GC so he can buy whatever he wants. I don't know anyting about electronics and I'm sure I would pick wrong.
I ended up getting him a Disney Cel Art. Not cheap but he loves all Disney and it's something cool he would never buy for himself.

what will your DH be using his MacBook for?
that would determine what kind of MacBook to get him.
photo editing, graphic, movie editing, day to day gaming, internet surfing...

all the above. He shoots short videos for work and then edits and uploads to their website, he also does a lot with pictures of his products, he definitely uses internet, watches movies, runs software that he needs for work, etc. Nothing too high tech though..
