Hey everyone,

With my DS 9 1/2 VERY LONG years ago, EVERYONE had bumpers...it wasnt even an issue..
now with everything goin on SIDS related, no one i know has a bumper set in the crib..
i admit, it took alot for me to get used to..BUT, now i almost would feel GUILTY putting it in, if it could really be a potential risk...

what does everyone think? Over-rated risk? Or justifyable?

They do make the breathable bumpers, but theyre really not the same IMO..i dunno whatdya think??

We had the regular bumpers in the crib until about 3.5 months when DS started rolling over. Then we took them out and put in the breathable ones. Worked well for us!

I don't plan on using them. At first I think I will have DD in my room in a co-sleeper or bassinet anyway. When she goes into her crib, I'm not planning on using them, but if she seems to move a lot, I will get the breatheable ones.

This is what I did. I only did the breathable b/c there was a leg incident.

i am using bumpers to begin with, and i am also getting the anglecare monitor. if i find that Chat Icon moves around the crib too much, i will take them out.

My DS is 9 months and I have never put bumpers in his crib. Not only do they pose a risk for SIDS, but as the baby gets older they can use them as leverage to stand on and climb out of the crib. Actually this week at my DS's 9 month appointment the doctor told me if I do have bumpers in the crib to take them out because of this issue.

We had bumpers on my sons crib while he was in our room in the bassinet (so it looked cute) but once he went into his crib, we took the bumpers right out.

I just felt more comfortable with not using. I didnt use for my dd and shes fine. I did adventually have to start using breathable bumpers b/c she got her leg stuck one time.

Im glad i didnt use bumpers b/c i found my dd would sleep at the edge of her crib and her face would have been pressed against the bumper if it was there. Good possiblity she wouldnt have slept that way if it was there, but whos really to say. I feel its a personal decision, i just felt if they think it reduces the chances of SIDS then i was going to give it try.
