I know Christmas should be in our hearts all year round..

But, I think it she be off our lawns when we are approaching March!! Driving in my neighborhood you can see wreaths, snowmen, & even a nativity scenes. We had warm weather so you can't use the excuse that it's to cold to take them down!!

Wow! That's a lot of stuff. No wonder it took so long to take down. Did you at least stop lighting it up somrtime in January?

There are a lot of wreaths still out & about in my neighborhood. How hard is that to take down?

Chat Icon Chat Icon I think you're talking about my next door neighbor! They just took their tree out and just left it in the road. The days it was really windy it rolled halfway into the street.

Re: I know Christmas should be in our hearts all year round..

There is a house we walk past on the way to the train station that has its Christmas decorations up almost ALL year. The past 2 years they haven't taken them down until they decorate for Halloween... and of course they don't take down Halloween until they decorate for Christmas. It's ridiculous. They are able-bodied people. I see them home often. There's no reason they can't take this stuff down. This year bothers me more than most. Not only do they have GIANT (as in 2' - 3') ornaments hanging from the tree in their front yard, they have Christmas lights from the TOP of their house, extending down to the ground at the front of their property -- supposed to look like a Christmas tree, I guess? A tree that starts at the edge of the side walk and goes up to their roof?

If it were just one year this happened, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt - busy, family emergency, something else... but this happens EVERY year.

ETA - Honestly, I'm actually happy we live a couple blocks away and not on their block. I cannot imagine their neighbors are too happy with this.

I just noticed someone on the next block who still has a big Merry Christmas sign on his lawn and it blinks. I drove by at night and did a double take.

I swear when I become wealthy I am going to own a community of houses- and there will be rules for those who live in the community- like a homeowner's association if you will.

Rule # 1 - No Christmas Decorations are to be up before Thanksgiving

Rule #2- All Christmas Decorations must be down by the end of January.

Or you will BE FINED!!!

A lot of our neighbors still have there lights up, but don't turn them on. They keep them on year round due to the hassle.

In that case I should keep my pool open all winter - it's a huge hassle to open and close! Chat Icon

Hey, that might work- it can double as an ice skating rink! Chat Icon

TELL ME ABOUT IT!!

my parents STILL have their 'Christmas Clock' (that plays 12 different Christmas songs on the hour) up & running in the kitchen.

I was over there last night and all of a sudden 'oh Christmas tree' in clock language started to ding..

I looked at my dad and said 'REALLY???'

When I become wealthy, I intend to live on a large enough piece of property that I don't give a flying pig what the neighbors have on their lawns. I don't intend to be able to see them from my estate.

The other day I asked my DH if I would be arrested for removing icicle lights from our neighbours houses.

I feel that I'm doing a public service and I should be awarded for it.
