I have my first OB/GYN appt today at noon...
I pushed for an earlier appt b/c I want to make sure everything is ok (I would also just like the pregnancy confirmed by a professional).
I am only 4 weeks along. What can I expect at today's appt and are there any questions I should ask?

I didnt get a sono till 6wks........ so they will discuss medical history with you, send you for blood work.
Go over what you can and cant eat.
Things like that.

Will I be able to get a confirmation today that I am at least pregnant? They have to send me for bloodwork? They can't take my blood there in the office?

They did a urine test as a confirmation, in the office.
I was sent out to get blood work and had to do it within the time till the next visit. That will confirm the pregnancy as well. Every doc office is different...yours may do the blood work there, not sure but it will take a few days for results.
The blood work is to also detect cystic fibrosis, AIDS, and other things.

They will definitely be able to give you results by your urine test.
Start writing down any questions you may have now. Don't rely on "remembering" them, because you are guaranteed to forget once you get there and are overwhelmed with everything!

My Dr did a urine and a blood test, the blood test results came back the next day. They took 7 vials of blood, so make sure you eat well before the visit. They will not do a sono until at least 6 weeks, but they will most likely schedule that appointment today. I also had a pelvic exam & a pap.

I took my blood test on Wednesday night. They told me I would know about the pregnancy part the following day (which I did yesterday!). The rest of the blood work will take about 1-2 weeks.
They also did a urine sample. Which also said I was pregnant. They were able to confirm that right away.
My first sono is at 8 weeks.
