I have an injured bird in my backyard.
What do I do with it? Nothing is obviously wrong but he's sitting next to the fence and crying.
My dogs are going crazy but are leaving him alone.

this happens to us a few time sper year. You shoudl leave it, make sure it is safe, sometimes they need to rest to re-gain strength (just like if we get a cramp or pull a muscle) if later on the bird is still there (make sure a cat can;t get it) you can bring it to Caumsett they have a bird rehab (we've dropped many birds there, lol)

Re: I have an injured bird in my backyard.
Are you sure it's injured and not just a baby robin learning to fly? Last year I had three baby robins (which are big birds even as babies) who's parents decided to toss them out of their nest and have them learn to fly in my backyard. The thing is I have a 6 foot fence and it took about three days for them to get over it. The poor babies were tortured by my kids who kept trying to "catch" them. I am sure they figured it out a lot quicker b/c of this.

Re: I have an injured bird in my backyard.
We had one a couple of years ago - it was a robin thrown out of his nest.
I left a little bit of food and water near him (not too close) and he eventually got the strength to hop across my yard and then fly away.
