I gave Connor a bottle of formula last night..

for the first time. I was wondering though... He only drank 3 oz.? I don't know for sure though how much he gets nursing but it's got to be more than 3 oz? I BF Caiden and he definitely took more than that. I believe the doctor said he wouldn't be surprised if he took 6 oz. because he's so big? So how come he only ate 3 oz? Any thoughts? Thanks!

At 6 weeks old Andrew was drinking about 4 oz at a time. Was this his first time with the bottle? Maybe he just has to get used to the bottle?

It was his 2nd time with the bottle, and the first one was a week ago. He does have to get used to it. I was also using a slow flow nipple, but I'm going to try the fast flow tonight.

The reason why I'm concerned is that because he's so big he should be eating more. He's already 14 lbs so he should be eating 5-6 oz.

I guess we'll see tonight!

Thanks!

When you try again, see what happens. Sometimes James (who is also a big boy) eats 6 ozs, and sometimes I can't get him to finish 4. So it really depends.

Don't forget that babies will self-regulate. And they will not always be AS hungry. I know I feel different levels of hunger throughout the day, so i just assume Ava does too. She's 14lbs, but 4 months old and she sometimes takes 4oz. and sometimes takes 7oz. Depends on her mood.
